LIVING TO IMPACT THE WORLD

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. 'You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.'" Matthew 5:13-14 NLT.

As a believer in the LORD Jesus, living to impact the world does not really have much  to do with how much we change ourselves, but has everything to do with how our lives, words and actions change others, and what we do for the Kingdom of God.
The effects of our accomplishments are best measured by the changes that have occurred in the lives of those whom we have come across as we pass through life and minister to humanity. We do not need or have to go seeking commendations or any other form of recognition from men, as though these accomplishments were by our personal efforts, otherwise we would have been rewarded.

Every day is a new opportunity for us to impact our world and make a Kingdom difference for our LORD Jesus. This is in response to our calling as Christians, to be "the salt of the earth," and the "light of the world."
It's only with God’s help that we can indeed be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, as He is the one who enables us "both to will and to do of His good pleasure." (Philippians 2:13 KJV) as we allow His Spirit  to work through us.

One of the best ways to impact the world for the LORD Jesus is by how we live our lives. We should endeavour to be "living Gospel tracts," seen and read by others.
Our actions and inactions matters and can have significant impacts on those around us, they can be lifted up by how we relate to, and with them; but we can also drag them down. Therefore, we need to be careful with our words and always ensure that our actions are in a manner worthy of the calling we have received.

Finally, we must note that our effectiveness as the discples of our LORD Jesus would be evaluated partly by the spiritual growth and development of those around us and those we reached out to.
Therefore, we need to strive to mindfully make a Kingdom difference with all we have, and to constantly be asking ourselves what we can do to help those around us grow spiritually. This entails removing the attention on ourselves and putting our focus on serving others and ultimately glorifying God.

PRAYER BULLETS:

LORD Jesus, I am grateful for Your mercy upon me. Help me to make a meaningful impact and difference for You in my immediate environment and beyond through my living, actions and inactions to Your glory.

FURTHER READING:

2 Corinthians 3:1-3; Matthew 5:13-16; Ephesians 4:1; Philippians 2:3-5.
