PURSUE RIGHTEOUSNESS
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness." 1 Timothy 6:11 NKJV.
No man who desires to live and please God can afford to live a life of unrighteousness. From our foundational Scripture, we read Paul, the apostle, by the Holy Spirit's inspiration admonishing Timothy, his son in the faith, and every believing child of God by extension, to pursue 'righteousness,' which is one of the foundations of God's throne (Psalm 89:14).
You cannot effectively pursue righteousness while retaining and maintaining the standards of this world, you must jettison them. That's one of the reasons the Bible warns us to 'flee these things:' like anger, fornication, gossip, envy, and other works of the flesh. You are to flee because they're not in conformity with the nature of God which you're pursuing through the route of righteousness. In the pursuit of righteousness, you must endeavour and determined to align and conform your lifestyle to life of the Pattern Son, our LORD Jesus (Ephesians 4:13).
The pursuit of, and a life of righteousness is an open invitation to the Godhead. And you can be rest assured that God honours such invitations without much ado. We can, without contradiction say that righteousness is a force that flows and connects you to the throne room of God, and makes it impossible for the devil to touch or come around your life because righteousness is God's Force. His throne is established on righteousness and justice. To live an unholy and life devoid of righteousness is a snare both in this life and in the world to come.
You will do well to pursue and live a life of righteousness. But it all rests on the power of the choice you make.
PRAYER BULLETS:
Sovereign LORD, empower me to pursue and live a life of righteousness and glorify Your name.
FURTHER READING:
2 Timothy 2:22; Galatians 5:19-21; Psalm 89:14; Ephesians 4:13.
