INSTRUCTED IN GODLINESS

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God." Titus 2:11-12 NLT.

God's grace teaches us that God is not a respecter of persons. This grace is offered freely to everyone. But, we learn as the Bible teaches that He is not willing that any should perish.
One of the solutions from God to purge the heart of the believing child of God of ungodliness and worldliness is the understanding of His grace as exemplified in and availed through our LORD Jesus.
It teaches us to be self-controlled and live soberly and righteously.
The famous former slave trader, John Newton wrote the masterpiece of a hymn, 'Amazing Grace' where he said among others: "...Grace taught me to fear..."

When you read the parable of the Pharisee and taxman in Luke 18, how the Pharisee, arising from his religiously tainted comparative analysis concluded that he was better placed in God's sight than the taxman, but the taxman was pernitent and sought God's mercy and grace. He knew deeply that on his own he has nothing good. He went home justified than the self-righteous Pharisee.
Obviously the Pharisee had learned nothing from grace. And you don't want to be like him.

What has grace taught you yet?

PRAYER BULLETS:

LORD Jesus, thank You for Your grace. May Your abundant grace find an abode in me, and instruct me in all I need to know about Your ways, love and favour. Help me not to take them for granted.

FURTHER READING:

2 Peter 3:9; Romans 6:1-2; 12:3; Luke 9:23; 2 Timothy 2:12.
