NO BOASTING PRIVILEGES

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

".......We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty." Luke 17:10 NLT

If you have a tendency to boast about all the good things you do and the sacrifices you make, you need to read what the LORD Jesus is saying: "... When you obey me you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.’" (Luke 17:10 NLT).

Don't get me wrong, you're deserving of the recognition that comes your way for the good things you do, and naturally, because as a human person, you thrive on appreciation. But sometimes when you don't get it; you're left with the choices below:

1). Succumb to self-pity and go around sulking and complaining about how the world doesn't treat you right, give you a fair deal or accord you the privilege of boasting,

2). Give way to resentment, walk around with a chip on your shoulder, and end up wondering why people don't want to be around you or,

3). Adopt the LORD Jesus' admonition by saying, "I'm only carrying out the demands and expectations of Heaven upon and from my life. And knowing that God is pleased with me and is my exceeding great reward."

When the praise of others is the only fuel that sustains you, and it's slow in coming so you can boast about it, you'll have no joy in the real of it. And that's bad, "for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold." (Nehemiah 8:10 AMP). Your real reward, the one that matters most, is guaranteed when you stand before the Master one day and hear the words: "Well done, good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:23 NKJV).

PRAYER BULLETS:

ABBA Father, thank You for the privilege of being Yours. Help me to anchor my boasting only on knowing who You are, what You have done, are doing and will yet do.

FURTHER READING:

Jeremiah 9:23-24; Matthew 6:1-24; 1 Corinthians 13:4.
