“In Solomon’s old age, they turned his heart to worship other gods instead of being completely faithful to the Lord his God, as his father, David, had been.” – 1 Kings 11:4 (NLT)

Thought Of The Day...
Solomon started strong. He asked God for wisdom instead of riches or power, and the Lord blessed him abundantly. His kingdom flourished, and his name became known across nations. Yet, by the time he reached old age, his heart had drifted. He allowed compromise into his life, letting his love for foreign wives and their gods pull him away from complete devotion to the Lord.
This verse is a sobering reminder that finishing well is just as important as starting well. Faithfulness to God is not a sprint; it’s a lifelong journey. Small compromises—whether in relationships, habits, or priorities—can slowly turn our hearts if left unchecked. What once seemed harmless can grow into idolatry that replaces God at the center of our lives.
Unlike Solomon, David sinned greatly at times, yet his heart always returned in repentance to God. The difference wasn’t perfection, but direction—David’s heart ultimately pointed toward God, while Solomon’s drifted away.

Key Principles to Live By:
• Guard your heart daily (Proverbs 4:23).
• Don’t let age, comfort, or success pull you away from God.
• Stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit, quick to repent, and committed to worshiping the Lord alone.
• The legacy of your faith is not determined by how you began but by how you finish.

Prayer...
Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a humble heart, recognizing my need for Your grace every day of my life. Just like Solomon, I am vulnerable to the distractions and temptations of this world. Lord, I don’t want my heart to drift from You. I ask that You would guard my mind, my desires, and my steps so that I remain faithful to You all my days.
Strengthen me when I am weak, and keep me from the subtle compromises that can slowly lead me away from You. Lord, teach me to love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. May I never place anyone or anything above You. When I stumble, give me the humility to repent quickly and the courage to turn back to You.
Father, I pray for endurance—that my faith would not fade with time, but grow stronger as I walk with You. Help me to finish the race well, bringing glory to Your name in every season of life. May my legacy be one of faithfulness, obedience, and love for You. Keep my heart pure and wholly devoted, that when I stand before You one day, I may hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
I surrender my life afresh to You today, Lord. Be the center of my heart, now and forever. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.
