YOU'LL WANT TO SEE THIS

THE GREAT COMMISSION:
GO, MAKE DISCIPLES, AND POINT PEOPLE TO JESUS

“Go and make disciples of all the nations…” — Matthew 28:19

What does it mean to be a follower of Jesus?

It means more than simply believing that Jesus exists.

It means following Him.

Learning from Him.

Obeying Him.

Loving what He loves.

Turning away from sin.

Growing in His Word.

And helping others discover the same hope we have found in Him.

This is at the heart of what Jesus commanded His followers after His resurrection: the Great Commission.

JESUS GAVE US A MISSION

After Jesus rose from the dead, He gathered His disciples and gave them a clear command:

“I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations…”
— Matthew 28:18–19 NLT

Notice where Jesus begins:

“All authority has been given to Me.”

The Great Commission isn’t ultimately about our authority, our platform, our ministry, or our ability.

It’s about the authority of Jesus.

We don’t go because we are impressive.

We don’t preach because we have everything figured out.

We don’t make disciples because we are perfect.

We go because Jesus commanded us.

And He is the One who has all authority.

GO

Jesus said:

“Therefore, go…”

Going can mean crossing an ocean to reach another nation.

But it can also mean walking across the street.

It can mean speaking to a coworker.

Encouraging a hurting friend.

Sharing your testimony.

Praying with someone.

Serving someone who is struggling.

Opening the Bible with someone who wants to know God.

The mission field isn’t limited to a church building or a foreign country.

Wherever Jesus has placed you, you have opportunities to represent Him.

You don’t have to wait until you have a large platform.

You don’t need thousands of followers.

You don’t need a ministry title.

You simply need to be willing to say:

“Jesus, send me.”

SHARE THE GOSPEL

The Great Commission includes proclaiming the good news.

Humanity is separated from God by sin.

But God loved us so much that He sent His Son.

Jesus lived without sin, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.

Through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, we can receive forgiveness and reconciliation with God.

That is not merely positive encouragement.

That is the Gospel.

And the Gospel is too important to keep to ourselves.

Paul wrote:

“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes…”
— Romans 1:16 NLT

We share the Gospel because people need Jesus.

Not because we want attention.

Not because we want arguments.

Not because we want to win internet debates.

Because Jesus saves.

BAPTIZE

Jesus continued:

“Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
— Matthew 28:19 NLT

Baptism doesn’t replace faith in Christ or become a work by which we earn salvation.

Instead, baptism is an important act of obedience and a public identification with Jesus.

A disciple doesn’t merely hear Jesus’ words.

A disciple responds to Jesus.

TEACH

Then Jesus gave another part of the command:

“Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.”
— Matthew 28:20 NLT

This is where discipleship goes deeper.

Evangelism isn’t the finish line.

Someone may hear the Gospel today and begin following Jesus—but they still need to grow.

They need Scripture.

They need prayer.

They need Christian community.

They need encouragement.

They need correction.

They need to learn what it means to surrender their lives to Christ.

They need to learn how to recognize false teaching and test everything against God’s Word.

They need to learn how to forgive.

How to love.

How to serve.

How to resist temptation.

How to walk by the Spirit.

How to persevere when following Jesus becomes difficult.

We don’t make disciples by teaching people to follow us.

We make disciples by teaching them to follow Jesus.

DISCIPLESHIP MEANS OBEDIENCE

Jesus didn’t say merely to teach people everything He commanded.

He said to teach them “to obey” those commands.

That’s important.

Biblical discipleship isn’t simply collecting Bible knowledge.

We can know Scripture and still refuse to obey it.

Jesus said:

“If you love me, obey my commandments.”
— John 14:15 NLT

Following Jesus involves surrender.

It involves repentance.

It involves obedience.

It involves allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us from the inside out.

None of this means Christians become perfect overnight.

Being born again doesn’t mean we suddenly become flawless. It means God begins changing our direction.

We stumble.

We repent.

We get back up.

We grow.

We keep following Jesus.

TRUTH AND LOVE BELONG TOGETHER

When we share Jesus with others, we should never forget that biblical truth and biblical love aren’t enemies.

Jesus was full of grace and truth.

We should speak the truth in love.

That means we don’t intentionally attack people.

We don’t shame people.

We don’t treat sinners as though they are beyond God’s grace.

But biblical love also doesn’t require us to hide what Scripture says about sin, repentance, judgment, forgiveness, and salvation.

Real love points people toward Jesus.

Sometimes that means comfort.

Sometimes it means encouragement.

Sometimes it means warning.

Sometimes it means calling someone to repentance.

And sometimes it simply means sitting beside someone who is hurting and reminding them:

Jesus has not forgotten you.

WE ARE SENT TO MAKE DISCIPLES

The Great Commission isn’t reserved for pastors, missionaries, evangelists, or people standing behind pulpits.

Every believer has a role in the mission of making disciples.

Your testimony matters.

Your prayers matter.

Your conversations matter.

Your acts of service matter.

Your willingness to open God’s Word with someone matters.

You may never know how God uses one conversation.

One prayer.

One Scripture.

One invitation to church.

One act of kindness.

One testimony.

One moment when you simply refused to be ashamed of Jesus.

Paul wrote:

“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:6 NLT

That’s freeing.

We aren’t responsible for changing someone’s heart.

God does that.

Our responsibility is faithfulness.

We plant.

We water.

We proclaim.

We serve.

We teach.

We pray.

And we trust God with the results.

FROM ONE PERSON TO THE NATIONS

Jesus told His disciples to make disciples “of all the nations.”

The mission is bigger than us.

Bigger than our churches.

Bigger than our denominations.

Bigger than our social media pages.

Bigger than our personal stories.

The mission belongs to Jesus.

And His Gospel is for every nation, every people, every language, every neighborhood, every generation.

That’s why Grace Sent exists:

Not to point people to ourselves.
Not to build a name for ourselves.
But to point people to Jesus.

PRAY. GO. SHARE. SERVE. TEACH. SEND.

The Great Commission can become more than something we read.

It can become the way we live.

PRAY — Ask God to send workers into the harvest.

GO — Be willing to step outside your comfort zone.

SHARE — Proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

SERVE — Show Christ’s love through action.

TEACH — Help believers grow in God’s Word.

SEND — Equip and encourage others to carry the Gospel forward.

And through every step, remember the promise Jesus gave:

“And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
— Matthew 28:20 NLT

We don’t go alone.

Jesus is with us.

WILL YOU GO?

Maybe you’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to serve God.

Maybe you’ve thought you need more knowledge.

More confidence.

More followers.

More resources.

More experience.

But perhaps what Jesus is asking from you isn’t perfection.

It’s willingness.

Say yes to Jesus.

Open your Bible.

Pray.

Learn.

Obey.

Share your testimony.

Serve someone.

Tell someone about the hope you have in Christ.

And when God opens a door, walk through it.

Because the Great Commission isn’t simply a command to read.

It’s a mission to live.

GRACE SENT

Saved by Grace.
Reborn in Christ.
Sent to Point People to Jesus.

We aren’t the Savior.

Jesus is.

We aren’t the light.

Jesus is the Light of the World.

We aren’t the answer.

Jesus is the answer.

So let’s go.

Let’s make disciples.

Let’s proclaim the Gospel.

Let’s teach God’s Word.

Let’s serve others.

Let’s love people enough to tell them the truth.

And above all—

let everything we do point back to Jesus.

Go. Make disciples. Teach them to obey. And trust Jesus with the harvest.

Grace Sent — Not pointing to self. Pointing to Jesus.

When everything around you is changing, remember that God’s Kingdom cannot be shaken.

The Broken Things Of The Scriptures

Exodus 31:18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of YHWH.

Read Exodus 32:15 to 24 - Exodus 34:1 - Exodus 25:21 - Exodus 40:20 - Acts 2:10 - Luke 22: 19 – 1 Corinthians 11 - 1 Corinthians 10:16 - Matthew 21 - Psalms 51: 17

First let us consider the two broken stones on which YHWH himself wrote the ten commandments. Israel's law: "and he gave unto moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of YHWH." (Exodus 3 1:18). "and the tables were the work of YHWH, and the writing was the writing of YHWH, graven upon tables." (exodus 32:16). "and it came to pass as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount." Exodus 32:19.

This was very significant. The broken stones meant not only that Israel had broken YHWH 's law, but the best that the best of the human race could do would be to break YHWH 's law. "and i took the two tables and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes." Deuteronomy 9: 17. But note exodus 34:1 "and YHWH said unto moses, hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest." and 25:21 "and thou shalt put the mercyseat upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee."

Here we see both the terror of the law and the mercy of YHWH under the law. In Hebrews 2:1 to 3 and in Romans 3:25 to 27 we learn that surely every disobedience and transgression must receive a just recompense of reward and that YHWH must first be just and then merciful. The law of YHWH is just and demands justice and perfection. The mercyseat spoke of Messiah on the cross being the propitiation for the sins of the whole world. I John 2:2.

The law worketh wrath. (Romans 4: 15). (read John 7:19). Messiah made peace through the blood of his cross. (Colossians 1:20).

Messiah lived a sinless life under the law, then died with lawbreakers, for all lawbreakers, to deliver them from the curse of the law, (Galatians 3:13). Thus, Messiah became the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. (Romans 10:4).



Because of Messiah's perfection in life, death and resurrection, YHWH can be just and the justifier of all who believe on Messiah and accept his perfect propitiation. YHWH freely justifies all such believers. (Romans 3:24 to 28 - Acts 13:39). Of this the blood-sprinkled mercyseat, above the unbroken stones spoke.

When YHWH gave the law at Sinai no one could endure it. (hebrews 12:20). It was contrary to them. (Colossians 2: 13 to 16). It was a yoke no one but Messiah was able to bear. (Acts 15:10).

Thus, we have the broken stones and the broken commandments. "the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant." (Jeremiah 30: 10 – Psalms 89:31 and 34). Later Israel and Judah fell on the stone of Matthew 21:44 and were broken. (romans 11:11).

Now note the words of Messiah in Luke 22: 19 and the words of Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:16 and I Corinthians 11 :24: "and he took bread and gave thanks and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, this is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me." "the bread which we brake, is it not the communion of the body of Messiah?" "and when he had given thanks, he break it, and said, take, eat; this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me."

Thus, we have the broken stones - the broken covenant (law) – the broken body of Messiah - the broken bread.

We break bread at YHWH 's table because his body was broken, because the descendants of Adam broke the law.

Then after we accept the broken body of Messiah for redemption and think of calvary, when taking the broken bread at the table, let us remember another broken thing: "the sacrifices of YHWH are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, o YHWH, thou wilt not despise." Psalms 51:17.

In Jeremiah 30:8 we read that YHWH will come to break the gentiles' yoke off Israel.
