ANCHORED IN GOD'S PRESENCE

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil" Hebrews 6:19 NKJV

Biblical hope is the confident expectation of what God has promised and its strength is in His faithfulness. So, in the face of hopelessness, the Christian believer should reach down to the depth of God's promises with hope to anchor his soul. The Bible teaches that hope is not wishful thinking, blind optimism, or naive denial. Hope is a sure foundation, and a living reality. It's not based on your circumstances or feelings, but rather, it's based on God's character and promises. Hope is not just a future possibility or a future destination, it's a present possession and a present power. Hope is the anchor of the soul, this is so, because it secures, sustains and strengthens you.

When you hope in God, you get connected to Him as the source of your security and stability. You are not tossed and turned by the storms of life or the waves of doubt. You are anchored to God's unchanging truth and unfailing love. With your hope anchored in God, you are nourished by Him as your source of life and joy, and as such, you're not drained by the troubles of life or the sorrows of the world. You're refreshed by His living water and bread of life.

When you hope in God, you are empowered by Him as your source of strength and courage. You are not defeated by the enemies of life or the fears of death. You're victorious by His mighty power and glorious resurrection. Hope is the anchor of the soul.

PRAYER BULLETS:

LORD Jesus, thank You for Your hope, that secures, sustains, and strengthens me.

FURTHER READING:

Hebrews 3:6; Colossians 1:27; Romans 8:24.
