LIVING FOR THE APPLAUSE
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"Let them no longer fool themselves by trusting in empty riches, for emptiness will be their only reward." Job 15:31, NLT.
The context of our foundational text spotlights some people (Christians inclusive), who prefer to live for human admiration rather than God's truth. These set of people are mainly interested in seeking the superficial praises of men; this drives them to seek to outdo, outperform, outdress, etc others, and because there's no real value in these pursuits they all become rewardless emptiness.
As a believing child of God, your value is not measured by what you wear, the kind of car you drive or your social status, rather of primary importance is what your position in righteous standing with God is. Whether you wear the best clothes or drive the costliest car, they are secondary. These should not change who you are in Christ. You don't have to be popular with men, but influence them to the glory of God with your living, character and conducts. You don't have to prove anything to anybody or waste your time trying to appear important. You are primarily responsible to God and must endeavour to live to please Him.
Jettison that feeling to live to impress others with ephemeral things, it doesn't count in the matters of eternal values. Just love people, and seek to please God, and that will suffice.
PRAYER BULLETS:
Father LORD, help me to jettison living for the applause of men and to live my life to please You I rely fully on the leading and help of Your Spirit.
FURTHER READING:
Job 15:27-35; Ephesians 6:6-8.
