GIVING AS WORSHIP

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"... They gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us." 2 Corinthians 8:5 ESV.

When one does not understand the essence of something, there's the tendency to handle it with levity or wanton disregard.

What Is Giving?

Giving from the biblical perspective is an expression of obedience, gratitude, trust, and increasing joy. God looks out for, recognises and rewards those who worship Him; one of the reasons for this is that giving is also an act of worship to God.

Giving, as simple as it seems, is a difficult matter. For some, it comes naturally, for some others, they give by compulsion, some give to visions and values, others give by emotions.

For the child of God, giving should be an act of worship.

Giving Yourself To The LORD

The Macedonian Christians who gave themselves first to the LORD were highly commended by Paul, the apostle, because it's a virtue that was properly prioritised. That is the way to go.
When you give yourself whole and entire to the LORD, it becomes easier for you to give to Him, His work and humanity at large.

Giving From The Depth of Your Heart.

The widow at the Temple, though she was poor, gave from the depth of her heart, not from the contents of her purse.
In giving, it's not the amount doled out that matters, as some, out of pride give large sums to be praised; what matters is the disposition and alignment of the heart of the giver to, and with God's heart.

Giving Unblemished Gifts/Offerings.

The LORD God required of the Israelites (and all of His children) to offer to Him livestocks that has no blemish so that such would be acceptable.

The wages of prostitution are not acceptable to God, because they're religiously deviant, morally detestable, disgraceful and shameful to be identified with His glory.

PRAYER BULLETS:

Father LORD, thank You for the gift of Your Son, LORD Jesus. Help me to always worship You with my giving. May my givings be acceptable to You, O God.

FURTHER READING:

2 Corinthians 8:1-6; Mark 12:42; Leviticus 22:19:20; Deuteronomy 23:17-18.
