Offering of Thanksgiving

Scripture

Leviticus 7:12 (NKJV)
If he offers it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer, with the sacrifice of thanksgiving, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, unleavened wafers anointed with oil, or cakes of blended flour mixed with oil.


The Sacrifice of Thanks

The peace offering could be given for many reasons, but one type was specifically called the thanksgiving offering. It was an act of worship that recognized God’s goodness and mercy. The offering was not only about sacrifice but about gratitude expressed through worship and fellowship with God.

For believers today, this reminds us that thanksgiving is an essential part of worship. Gratitude is more than words spoken; it is an offering of our lives back to God in response to His faithfulness. When we pause to thank Him, we honor Him as the source of every blessing.

Through Christ, our ultimate peace offering, we can continually bring our thanksgiving before God. Our prayers, praise, and acts of obedience become a sweet aroma that rises to Him.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for Your goodness and mercy in my life. Teach me to live with a heart of gratitude that offers thanksgiving to You each day. Let my worship be an offering of thanks that brings glory to Your name. In Jesus name, Amen.
