RESPONDING TO OFFENSE WITH GRACE
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us." Matthew 6:13 NLT.
It is practically impossible for you, even as a child of God to avoid offending others and being offended by others, while you still have blood running in your veins. While you don't have the ability to control how others feel or act when offended, you do have exercise of free will over your own life to decide how you react when you're offended by others.
Your forgiveness of others is the measure of forgiveness you will receive from God. You can forgive because you have been forgiven. The key to forgiveness is to focus on what God has done for you. As God forgave you freely, you're to forgive those who have offended and hurt you.
God forgives you without limit, as long as there is genuine repentance. You're also expected to forgive others without limit. This forgiveness is at the heart of your relationship with God. God has erased your sins, removed His wrath from you, and raised you from death to life. He has been incredibly kind and compassionate to you. And you now have a secure and glorious future through Christ. But you must learn to choose grace and forgiveness over bitterness and rancour when you're offended or hurt by others.
PRAYER BULLETS:
Father LORD, I thank You for raising me from death to life by the limitless forgiveness that comes from You. Engrace me to experience this power of forgiveness in my daily life.
FURTHER READING:
Matthew 6:13-15; Matthew 18:17, 21-22, 35; Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:12.
