VENGEANCE BELONGS TO GOD
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay' says the Lord." (Romans 12:19 NIV).
As humans, we have the natural inclination to get even or exact more injuries on those who had wounded or offended us, but you see, matter of fact, and biblically speaking, is that, it's not your duty or responsibility to seek and exact revenge as a child of God, it's God's. One of the major reasons being that you're not equipped to appropriately revenge in view of God's nature and character.
The other reasons are obedience and submission to God's will and injunctions among others.
Leaving vengeance to God means submitting to God without remaining in doubt and having a sense of entitlement. God, our Father, in His infinite wisdom teaches us how to replace pride with humility and tolerance. As it is written "In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:6 NIV).
When we give (in) our all to God and submit obediently, our paths becomes straight. We see things with a broader sense of wisdom, and we discern better. This is the ultimate translation of leaving vengeance to God.
Whoever desires to embark on a revenge mission without God must as a matter of requirement dig two graves, one for himself/herself, and the second for the other person.
You don't want to embark on such eternally damned expedition, do you? Then leave vengeance to God.
PRAYER BULLETS:
ABBA Father, I am thankful for Your mercies on me. Help me to trust You to take revenge on my behalf.
FURTHER READING:
Deuteronomy 32:35; Proverbs 20:22; Matthew 5:44; Ephesians 4:31-32.
