THE URGENCY OF THE HARVEST
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." Luke 10:2 NKJV.
From the context of our foundational Scripture you will realise that the LORD Jesus is telling His disciples (who were being sent on short term Missions as it were), and this includes us, His present age discples; the imperatives of getting on the soul winning train of Heaven.
This validates one of the principles we hold dear to heart, namely: 'Every Christian, A Missionary.'
Whenever the LORD Jesus tells us to pray about a thing, we can be rest assured that He knows exactly why, we can also be sure that it is a serious matter to His heart. The LORD Jesus says that one of the ways we can partake in God's harvest is to pray that God sends labourers, that is genuine and prepared labourers to His harvest.
This begins with us, the disciples who are already in the loop representing, and holding aloft the Kingdom banner, and then praying to move the hand and will of God as it were, to gather labourers and send them to His harvest scattered all over the world, (and if you're not in the loop yet, come aboard by giving your life to the LORD Jesus first). So we should individually ask God to make a prepared harvester out of us and be used as instrument in His harvest.
Can you ask God to send labourers to the nations and to the lost? This is relevant in the heart of the LORD Jesus. It should be in ours too. As we call upon His name over this matter of labourers heartily and align our faith to His heart beat; He will strengthen us, and give us all the grace that we need.
PRAYER BULLETS:
ABBA Father, thank You for the grace and privilege to call upon Your name. Make me a veritable labourer in deed, as I pray for other labourers to join in Your harvest. I ask dear Father that You finish that which You have started in my life.
FURTHER READING:
Luke 10:1-8; Matthew 9:37-38; 2 Corinthians 9:10.
