On Praying the Psalms 🙏 Whoever reads the Psalms and finds in them a spirit of vengeance and retaliation against enemies and a plea for ruin has not yet been purified by the work of the Holy Spirit; for the Holy Spirit purifies the heart and reveals in the prayer of the Psalms the truth of a person's feelings towards others—hatred, enmity, and revenge. These phrases are included with a clear purpose: for a person to see in them the truth of their own self and the truth of their life, and to ask the Holy Spirit to elevate them by the Spirit's power above these requests which express most accurately the natural human life not committed to the law of the Cross and latent in every human heart. We rise above, to the horizons of the Holy Spirit, where the pray-er finds themselves on Golgotha with our Lord Jesus, crucifying these passions with Him, and asking for the peace, life, health, and salvation of enemies, just as they ask for the peace, health, and salvation of those they love. #Psalms #Prayer #HolySpirit #SpiritualGrowth #Forgiveness #Golgotha #Transformation
