🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 289
DATE: 16TH OCTOBER,2025
TOPIC: DON’T RETURN TO EGYPT
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: Exodus 14:11 (KJV)
“And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?”
Devotional Message:

Sin will always promise pleasure but deliver bondage. Many believers, after being delivered from the kingdom of darkness, begin to walk with God sincerely. Yet, when God starts taking them through the process of growth and maturity, they sometimes face challenges that test their faith.

In those moments, the enemy whispers lies into their minds — making Egypt (their past life of sin) look better than where God is taking them. He paints a false picture of comfort and pleasure to entice them back into bondage. But this is only a trap to keep them enslaved and unproductive in the things of God.

The same thing happened to the children of Israel. Though they had witnessed God’s mighty hand in delivering them from Egypt, when Pharaoh pursued them, they panicked. Instead of trusting the God who parted the Red Sea, they began to long for Egypt — a place of slavery — saying, “Were there no graves in Egypt?” They quickly forgot the pain of bondage and focused on temporary comfort.

This is exactly how the devil operates. He waits for moments of hardship, discouragement, or delay, then tries to convince you that your former life was better. But remember this: Egypt represents bondage, and bondage will never be better than freedom, no matter how difficult the wilderness may seem.

Whenever the enemy plants thoughts that exalt themselves above the knowledge of God — thoughts that glorify your past or make sin look appealing — you must pull them down through the Word (2 Corinthians 10:5). The God who delivered you from Egypt is able to take you through the sea without drowning and through the fire without being burned (Isaiah 43:2).

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. Do not look back. The road may be rough, but the destination — your Promised Land — is far greater. The Bible says, “The latter glory shall be greater than the former” (Haggai 2:9). Stay faithful to God, for His blessings add no sorrow, and His promises never fail.

PRAYER:

Father, thank You for delivering me from the bondage of sin. Help me to stay focused on You even in moments of challenge. Strengthen my faith to resist every thought that glorifies Egypt and give me grace to keep pressing forward toward the promise. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
