🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 298
DATE: 25TH OCTOBER, 2025
TOPIC: THE POWER OF SHARED BURDENS
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: Exodus 18:17–18 (KJV)
“And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good. Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.”
Devotional Message:
While studying Exodus 18, the Lord revealed to me something powerful through the counsel Jethro gave to Moses. Jethro observed that Moses carried the entire burden of leadership on himself—he judged the people from morning till evening without rest. Seeing this, Jethro advised him to appoint able men to assist him, handling the simpler matters so that only the most difficult issues would reach Moses.
From this, I realized that weariness often stems from self-centeredness—when we try to handle everything alone and become the only solution to everyone’s need. God never designed us to carry every burden by ourselves. His design is shared responsibility and empowerment of others.
Many businesses, ministries, and families fail after the founders or leaders depart because they never raised or empowered others to continue the work. True leadership is not measured by how much you can do alone, but by how many you can empower to carry the vision beyond you.
When we refuse to delegate or invest in others, we give the enemy an opportunity to strike. The devil loves to attack when one is tired and weary, because in such moments prayer becomes difficult, the Word feels heavy, and procrastination sets in. But when others are trained and equipped, the altar never goes cold—even when you are weak, someone else is standing in the gap, interceding for you, like Epaphras did for the church (Colossians 4:12).
This principle worked for Moses, for David—who raised mighty men that fought alongside him—and for Abraham, who trained men born in his house for battle. Empowerment is preservation.
So, child of God, learn to invest in people—teach them, train them, trust them. Let others carry part of the vision with you so that the work of God continues from generation to generation. And even in your own life, may the Lord raise people who will stand on the altar for you when you grow weary.
PRAYER:
Father, thank You for reminding me that I am not meant to carry every burden alone. Teach me to empower others and raise faithful men and women who will continue the work You began through me. Surround me with intercessors who will stand in the gap when I am weary. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
