John 8:11 NIV “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
Good morning and praise God beloved. Today we get our lesson from a very interesting story of Jesus, Pharisees and a woman caught in the act of adultery. Disclaimer: Jesus Christ loved sinners but at no point supported sinful living as some would think. The law demanded that adulterless and adulterer to be put to death (Lev 20:10) . A second thing in this story was that Romans were the only one who would execute offenders. Lastly, Jesus was preaching a message of mercy. You see, this was a deep trap for Jesus to break the law of Moses or Roman law or contradict His message of mercy. Jesus is a just judge and full of wisdom, after a silence, He told them that he who had committed no sin to be the first to cast stone to the woman. The Bible records that they left one by one from the oldest to the youngest. They all condemned themselves as sinners and went their way and missed their salvation for that wasn't what they had sought from first place. As John 3:17 says , Jesus Christ did not also condemn the woman but instead saved her. Have you been condemning others instead of bringing them to Jesus Christ for their salvation? Are you really looking for salvation or looking to condemn others? Sometimes we look too far into state law and Mosaic law and many other laws and fail to realize God's will in our lives like these hypocritical Pharisees. I believe we can pray Holy Spirit for wisdom in our Christian living so that we do not become closed gate to them that are seeking for a Savior while the world is following to condemn them. I wish we allowed our places of worship to be where sinners finds mercy through Jesus Christ. The only way to do that is by rejecting that feeling that we are saints and seeing ourselves too as sinners in need of Savior. Jesus illustrated it this way "Matthew 7:3-5 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Like our Father, may we desire mercy than sacrifices. Love others like Jesus. God loves you, have a blessed day. Shalom. Shalom.
