🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 302
DATE: 29TH OCTOBER, 2025
TOPIC: LEAVE VENGEANCE TO GOD
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 12:19–20 (KJV)
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.”
Devotional Message:

The Word of God is clear: “Avenge not yourselves.” We are commanded not to repay evil for evil or to seek revenge against those who wrong us. Instead, God instructs us to do the opposite — to bless, to forgive, and even to care for our enemies.

The Scripture goes further to say that if your enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him drink. Such acts of love are not signs of weakness but evidence of spiritual maturity. In doing so, the Bible says we “heap coals of fire on their head” — meaning that our kindness becomes a conviction to their conscience and a testimony of God’s character at work in us.

David is a perfect example of this truth. Despite Saul’s relentless pursuit to kill him, David never lifted his hand against the anointed of God. On several occasions, he had the opportunity to take Saul’s life but refused, saying, “I will not stretch forth mine hand against the Lord’s anointed.” Even after Saul’s death, David mourned deeply, composing a lamentation in his honor and punishing the man who claimed to have killed him (2 Samuel 1:1–27).

David’s response teaches us that true victory over our enemies is not through revenge but through love and righteousness. Unfortunately, many believers today have taken the place of God, seeking to avenge wrongs done to them. But vengeance belongs only to the Lord. When we take matters into our own hands, we step out of divine order and hinder God’s justice from prevailing His way.

Beloved, when wronged, resist the urge to retaliate. Trust God to vindicate you in His perfect time. Continue doing good even to those who mistreat you, and you will see God’s hand fight your battles far better than you ever could.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, help me to let go of every desire for revenge. Teach me to love my enemies and to trust Your justice. May my response to evil always reflect Your grace and mercy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
