🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 304
DATE: 31ST OCTOBER, 2025
TOPIC: THE ACCEPTABLE FAST
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 58:6–10 (KJV)
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
Devotional Message:

For a long time, many believers have had a wrong notion about fasting. We’ve thought that fasting simply means abstaining from food, locking ourselves in our rooms, wearing gloomy faces, and enduring hunger from morning till evening. Yet, God says this is not the fast that pleases Him.

In our anchor scripture, God redefines the acceptable fast. He says it is to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, to share bread with the hungry, to bring the poor into your home, and to clothe the naked. In essence, fasting is not only abstaining from food — it is a lifestyle of compassion, humility, and justice.

True fasting is a heart posture before God, expressed through love for others. It is not just self-denial, but selfless giving. It is not just shutting your door to pray, but opening your heart to bless. God delights in a fast that transforms our hearts and extends His mercy through our hands.

The rewards of such a fast are divine: “Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, thy health shall spring forth speedily, thy righteousness shall go before thee, and the glory of the Lord shall be thy rear guard.” When we fast God’s way, our prayers are heard swiftly, our light shines even in obscurity, and divine health becomes our portion.

Therefore, this is a call to change how we fast. Let us not only abstain from food but also turn from wickedness, forgive others, and show love to the poor, the hungry, and the broken. Such a fast pleases God and unlocks blessings that flow without struggle.

PRAYER:

Father, teach me the kind of fasting that pleases You. Help me to fast not only with my mouth but with my heart and actions. Let my life reflect mercy, love, and righteousness that glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
