๐ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 312
DATE: 8TH NOVEMBER, 2025
TOPIC: RECOGNIZING THE VOICE OF GOD THROUGH MEN
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: EXODUS 18:24 (KJV)
“So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.”
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:
We must learn to recognize the voice of God when He speaks to us through people. It takes a heart that is humble and teachable to discern divine counsel that comes through others. Pride blinds many from hearing God, for it makes a person see themselves as all-knowing and beyond correction.
In Exodus 18, Moses had burdened himself by handling every matter of the Israelites from morning till evening. Seeing this, God sent wise counsel to him through his father-in-law, Jethro. Though Moses had encountered God personally — through the burning bush, on Mount Sinai, and in the tent of meeting — he still humbled himself to listen to Jethro’s advice. The Bible records that “Moses hearkened to the voice of his father-in-law.” That act of humility brought order, efficiency, and relief to Moses and the people.
God saw that Moses’ weariness would bring him down, so He sent a counsel that would rescue him. The same is true for many today — they have been worn down by circumstances and silent battles they chose to carry alone. Because they refused to listen to anyone, pride blinded them to the help God was sending their way. Sadly, many are left with regrets, saying, “I wish I could have listened.”
God uses various mediums to speak to His people, and one of those mediums is other people. He can use the least expected individuals — even unbelievers — to deliver a message. The book of Proverbs reminds us that God can even use our parents to instruct us, regardless of their weaknesses. I once heard a testimony of a man who was counseled by a drunkard who told him, “Once you indulge yourself in sin, it will be very difficult to get out of that bondage.” Indeed, God can use anyone to deliver truth.
However, discernment is crucial. Not every voice that speaks to you is from God. The enemy can also use men to discourage, mislead, or trap you. That is why we must always rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance. Pray for sensitivity to recognize when it is God speaking to you, and when it is not.
Beloved, never despise godly counsel — whether it comes from a parent, a friend, or even an unlikely person. If God used a donkey to speak to Balaam, He can use anyone to speak to you. The key is humility and spiritual discernment.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, give me a humble and discerning heart to recognize Your voice, no matter the vessel You choose to use. Help me to listen, obey, and walk in wisdom. Let pride never blind me from hearing You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
