1. Morning Prayer

To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm [or] Song. God be merciful unto us, and bless us; [and] cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. ⏤ Psalm 67:1

Wherever God rules over the human heart as King, there is the kingdom of God established. ⏤ Paul Washer

O God, our Father, as we begin this Sunday, we look to You for a blessing. Just as the earth opens its eyes to the sun, whose beams pour down in brightness upon fields and forests, so do we open our eyes to You this morning. May the gracious beams of Your love shine upon us. Then our hearts will rejoice, for if we have Your favor, we truly live.

Fill us with Your Spirit, and may all our thoughts, feelings, and desires be sweetened by Your presence. Sanctify to us all the privileges we will enjoy today. May our rest be undisturbed by anything worldly that might disrupt its peace. As we wait upon You, may our strength be renewed. May Your word, which we will hear today, be richly blessed to us. May its teachings be clear, and may we receive them into good and honest hearts, where they can bring forth fruit.

Let Your blessing be upon all who will minister in the churches today, leading worship and preaching to Your people. May they be in the Spirit, and may their words be filled with the Spirit. Make them holy, with clean hands and pure hearts. Give them the right motives as they minister in Your name.

Let Your blessing be upon all the congregations that will gather for worship today. May all hearts be open to the influence of the Holy Spirit. Enter every open heart, and by Your loving persuasion, win over those whose hearts have been closed to You. So may Your kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. We ask for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

2. MORNING TEA. THE WORD FOR TODAY
SUNDAY NOVEMBER 9, 2025.
"RECOGNISING AND WALKING IN GOD’S WILL (4)"
‘Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.’ Colossians 3:15 NIV

DON'T DRIVE through the red light. Timing is important when you’re seeking to know God’s will. Wait until He opens the door, because ‘what He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open’ (Revelation 3:7 NIV). Impatience, or acting independently of God, or ‘rushing in where angels fear to tread’ will get you into trouble. God doesn’t ask for your opinion, He asks for your obedience. Red lights are part of His strategy. A closed door is as important as an open door when God’s in control. He closed the doors to Paul at Asia and Bithynia, then opened the door for him at Macedonia (Acts 16:6-10). Heed the umpire’s call. The Holy Spirit’s role is vital; He alone knows God’s mind and takes the guesswork out of the search. Jesus said, ‘When…the Spirit of truth…comes, He will guide you into all the truth…He will disclose to you what is to come’ (John 16:13 NAS). Develop a heightened sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s promptings by consulting Him on small issues. Remember, you don’t have to be an authority on theology; you’re already fully qualified! The Bible says, ‘The true children of God are those who let God's Spirit lead them’ (Romans 8:14 NCV). He will bring a deep peace to your heart once He gets you on track. ‘Let the peace…from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds]’ (Colossians 3:15 AMP). Let God’s peace in your heart ‘make the calls’ all along the way. That way you’ll never go wrong.

3. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
(COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

*DATE:*
SUNDAY 9TH NOVEMBER, 2025.

*SUB-THEME:*
PROCLAIMING THE GOSPEL OF THE RESURRECTED CHRIST.

*TOPIC:*
THE ROLE OF HOLY SPIRIT.

*TEXT:*
ACTS 1:4-9.
4. On one occasion, while He was eating with them, He gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift My Father promised, which you have heard Me speak about.
5. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
6. Then they gathered around Him and asked Him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"
7. He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority.
8. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
9. After He said this, He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid Him from their sight.

*TOPIC:*
THE ROLE OF HOLY SPIRIT.

*THE MESSAGE:*
When Jesus was about to leave the disciples, He promised them the baptism of the Holy Spirit, who will enable them to spread the gospel. Jesus reassured them that the Holy Spirit will empower them to witness Him, beginning from Jerusalem, then to the ends of the earth. This underscores the universal nature of missions and the transformative role of the Holy Spirit. Today, the Holy Spirit equips and inspires believers to proclaim the gospel message boldly. Some do not wait for the enabling power of the Holy Spirit. While others go to the extent of engaging other powers in missions. Be rest assured that Jesus will deny all those who claim to preach in His name but are not (see Mt. 7:21-23). Preach Christ with eternity in view.

*REFLECTION:*
The Holy Spirit empowers believers to witness Christ.

*PRAYER:*
Father, fill me with the Holy Spirit always. Amen.

*MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
2 TIMOTHY 2:8.
"Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel."

SUNDAY 9TH NOVEMBER,2025```

*TRUST NOT IN YOUR POSSESSIONS* 🫵🏽🏾🏾‍🏽

```TEXT:PSALM 49:1-14```
```KEY VERSE:``` _*"They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him" (PSALM 49:6, 7).*_

*The story was once told of a rich man who died after a brief illness. Just before his burial, his wife requested that the casket should be opened. She then pulled out a piece of paper, a cheque bearing a large amount of money, and issued it in favour of her late husband. She placed it on his chest and then asked that the casket be shut and lowered to the grave. Explaining later she said: "It's his money and he loved it so much; so, I thought he should take it to the grave." Her point was not lost on all those present.*

*The Psalmist similarly sought to emphasise the futility of putting so much premium on material wealth, to the detriment of one's soul. He addressed himself to "all ye inhabitants of the world, both the low and high, rich and poor, together." He said it is those without understanding that trust in their wealth and boast with their riches. He said whatever they possessed was inadequate as a ransom for their souls, nor was it sufficient to redeem another person.*

*Earthly riches, irrespective of their magnitude, will be useless when death comes. Thinking that with their money they can buy fame, so "that their houses shall continue for ever", or having streets or avenues named after themselves, only underscores the folly of people who lack wisdom. In the end, mortals die like ordinary animals. Their beautiful adornments and their glory are destined for the grave, while only the upright will count before God.*

*Every person will, one day, face a moment of death, empty-handed. At that time, what will matter is only what they invested to secure their eternal heritage. This speaks about our salvation from sin, our perfect walk with God, the service we rendered to God, and the good deeds we did to others. Now that we are still living, we must place our faith in the almighty God, pledge our obedience and allegiance to Him only, and use our material resources for the good of the kingdom of God. Jesus said: "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." The question is, where have you invested your heart, wealth, and riches?*

*LIMITATIONS OF EARTHLY WEALTH*

*TEXT:* PSALM 149:1-14.

1 Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
2 Both low and high, rich and poor, together.
3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
8 (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.

*Timeless Truth:*_"For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out."_ (1 Timothy 6:7).

*INTRODUCTION*

In 2020, Tshekede Bufton Pitso, a prominent South African politician died and was buried with his second-hand 1990's Mercedes-Benz E 500. Despite Pitso losing much of his wealth, his love for Mercedes-Benz remained and he used the money that he had to purchase a used E 500. While it was broken down and couldn’t be driven, the politician would still often sit inside it and listen to music, telling his family it was his favourite thing to do. He also shared with them his desire to be buried in it rather than a conventional coffin when his time came. This is a case of how people can be so attached to their earthly possessions, including loved ones, to the point that it becomes an idol. There are different kinds of wealth. There is the *material wealth* which has to do with physical possessions which may be sold out and turned to cash in most cases. There is also the *mammon wealth* which is liquid cash or asset. There is also *mental wealth* which has to do with wisdom or knowledge acquired or possessed. This wisdom can be acquired in formal and informal training or institutions. This wisdom may not necessarily be convertible to cash and at times is opposed to or disinterested in mammon or material wealth. We also have the *moral wealth* that is full of the knowledge of God as enshrined in the Holy Bible. A person with moral wealth is said to be rich towards God. The psalmist enlightened by God, shows us that all kinds of wealth, as good and desirable they may be, have eternally, serious limitations if moral wealth is missing.

*1. Undeniable Wisdom*

a. The wisdom the psalmist is projecting is for people of all status, *"both low and high, rich and poor, together"*. This wisdom, as valid as they may be, will not have impact except there is meditation and reflections on them guided by the truth. It is meditation and reflection on true wisdom that actually, makes someone wise. No matter how profitable the wisdom may be, what makes it to be well internalized and make wise is meditations, reflections and regurgitation of the truth. *"My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding"*.
b. The meditation of the truth makes wise and also makes the wise to be wiser. Furthermore, there will be understanding of deep things of life and eternity which will be valuable to teach others too. That was the experience of this wisdom loving psalmist. *"I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp"*. Towing the path of true wisdom gives confidence without fear of the present or fear of what will happen in eternity. All will pass through *"days of evil on earth"* but those who are truly wise will overcome while those who set their hearts on the vanity of this world will have eternal regrets. *"Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil?"*. The importance of true wisdom based on the truth of the Word of God is hereby made clear. *"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding"* (Proverbs 4:7). The Word of God is the most trustworthy wisdom that can stand the test of time and eternity.

*Question*

Do you spend time meditating and reflecting deeply on the Word of God?

*2. Untrustworthy Wealth*

a. The psalmist here is not against wealth, but he shows the folly of secretly or overtly putting your trust and confidence in wealth. In this case, the mammon and material wealth are on focus. There is an adage that what money cannot do more money will do. That is the false confidence of the wealthy. These are *"they that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches"*. The same is true with mental wealth. There are those who are rich in the wisdom of this world including all the philosophy, research and academic knowledge of different fields, skills for different things including AI, and they put all their trust and confidence in that mental wisdom. Some of them live their lives without any cognisance for God. There are those who feel satisfied and sufficient with the pursuit of knowledge for the sake of it. They multiplied degrees and certificates even at old age. All these may be desirable, but if they exclude the wisdom of God, they will all amount to foolishness.
b. The major limitations of all that wealth is this: *"None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him"*. All the wealth put together cannot redeem a soul from hell and destruction. None of them can buy new life or a new heart. That is why many of them are morally bankrupt inspite of their massive wealth. *"For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever"*. The redemption of the soul is not only precious, but also unaffordable by any wealthy person. *"What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul"* and perish? All kinds of wealth, mental, material or mammon, unfortunately, cannot guarantee eternal life. They will all die like the poor, the foolish and the morons. It cannot guarantee *"that he should still live for ever, and not see corruption"*. Death is a leveller and life after death is more real and far longer compared to life on earth. *"For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others"*. How do people who put their confidence in wealth think consciously or unconsciously? *"Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names"*. They do all they can to immortalize their names, but unfortunately, at the point of death and after, it does not have any meaning again to the dead. *"He is like the beasts that perish"*. The beasts are buried and disposed of so as to not cause stinking odour, so are the rich treated too after their death. *"Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them"*.

*Question*

Do you put your trust in material, mammon and even mental wealth and you are not rich in eternal things?

*3.Ultimate Wealth*

a. What is the contrast with those who are morally wealthy and are rich towards God? *"And the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning"*. These are rich in grace, fruits of the Spirit and faith. The upright and the morally rich will laugh last in this life and in the world to come as they will be resurrected to glory eternally, while the ungodly and *"their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling"*.
This is aptly illustrated by the parable of the rich man who was multiplying wealth to himself without thinking of the imminence of death and the danger of eternity in hell fire. He is called a rich fool that Jesus called *"thou fool"* (Luke 12:15-21). Abraham and David could be called Billonnaires today, but their confidence and trust was never in their wealth. They still saw God as the Ruler and Giver of all things. Eternity was their focus and this controlled everything they desired or did. How do we ensure that we avoid turning wealth to an idol? Jesus spoke of using our present material resources to store up treasure in heaven (Mark 10:21). We should not accumulate our wealth unnecessarily, but we should share them for the kingdom and the benefits of kingdom citizens. This is an investment with eternal rewards. *"If riches increase, set not your heart upon them"* (Psalm 62:10). *"Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life"* (1 Timothy 6:17-20).

*Question*

What are the limitations of earthly wealth without spirituality and heavenly wealth?

*Prayer Points*

1.Father, teach me more of Your wisdom that I may be increasingly wiser and wealthy in the things of God .
2.Give me grace that I will not be deceived by the deceitfulness of riches .
3.Deliver those who are already deceived and captured by the love of earthly wealth .
4.Give grace to all Your children to see earthly wealth as a tool and not as an idol to die for .

The psalmist enlightened by God, shows us that all kinds of wealth, as good and desirable they may be, have eternally, serious limitations if moral wealth is missing. *1. Undeniable Wisdom* a. *Question* Do you spend time meditating and reflecting deeply on the Word of God? *2. Untrustworthy Wealth* a. *Question* Do you put your trust in material, mammon and even mental wealth and you are not rich in eternal things? *3.Ultimate Wealth* a. *Question* What are the limitations of earthly wealth without spirituality and heavenly wealth? *Prayer Points* 1.Father, teach me more of Your wisdom that I may be increasingly wiser and wealthy in the things of God 🙏. 2.Give me grace that I will not be deceived by the deceitfulness of riches 🙏. 3.Deliver those who are already deceived and captured by the love of earthly wealth 🙏. 4.Give grace to all Your children to see earthly wealth as a tool and not as an idol to die for 🙏. *HYMN:* Where will you spend eternity *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* Lamentation 1-3. Buy the truth and sell it not. Your eternity and holiness is not for sale.
