Song of Songs 6:3 NIV I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine; he browses among the lilies.

Good morning and praise God. I hope you're having a great day. Today's verse comes from Songs of Songs which is a love songs book. Thinking about the first time you fell in love and forgetting the aftermath, all of us can attest that love is a beautiful thing. This is the picture that the whole of this book paints in our minds. It is a beautiful song with three persona, young man (the beloved) , young woman (the lover) and a group of friends. They use all sweet and intricate words to describe each other. If the lover is really Solomon as some scholars have said, I really don't know what happened later that he ended with seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines. I believe he couldn't have repeated this song a thousand times to different young women! "Anyway, that's how the world is cooked." Leaving that aside and avoiding waking your ulcers, let's read Revelation 2:4 NIV "Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first." Jesus Christ is sending a message to the church at Ephesus. They had began so we'll like the lovers in Songs of Songs but had slowly been falling away from loving Jesus. They were turning cold despite hating Nicolaitans practices and enduring hardship for God's sake . When our love for Jesus grow cold , we start doing spiritual things as rituals and not out of love or even obedient response to God . We end up becoming lukewarm which is another characteristics that Jesus warned a church in Laodicea. Love life in this world may not have been as you expected whether at home or church but you should never take that as a reason to stop loving your God. In fact, that should make you love God the more knowing that only Him can truly love you to eternity, not just to the moon and back to the earth! God's love for you is not because you are good, beautiful,rich, poor, young, old , or what not, He loved you just as you are ! His love for you cannot be compared to the one you've know in this world! God says to you, Jer 31:3 " ..I have loved you with an everlasting love , therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you." Isaiah 43:4 "... because you're precious in my eyes, and honored, I love you..." John 3:16 "For God so loved...." God did not spare His son Jesus Christ in order to buy your pardon of sin because He loves you! Return to God faithful one says God, and He will return to you. Let your lampstand remain in its place by fixing your relationship with God and returning to your first love towards Him to shine forth the light of Jesus to the world showing that God Has brought us love that never fades.
