1. Morning Prayer

[It is of] the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. [They are] new every morning: great [is] thy faithfulness. ⏤ Lamentations 3:22-23

The Christian life is one of gratitude. A heart that is constantly overflowing with thankfulness is a heart close to God. ⏤ A.W. Tozer

O God, giver of all good and fountain of all mercy, we thank You for Your grace and the many ways You show Your care for us. Your faithfulness never fails. Your mercies are new every morning, fresh every moment, more than we can count. What can we give You in return for all Your goodness to us? We have nothing to offer but the poor love of our hearts, and we give that to You. Grant us more and more the spirit of praise and thanksgiving. Teach us to sing even when tears choke our songs. Give us songs in the night. Teach us how to rejoice, even in care and sorrow.

We thank You for our home and all it means to us. You have filled our lives with countless blessings through the love that unites us as a family. Our home is a little bit of Your love poured into our hearts. We thank You for the shelter our home provides and for the gentle affections that bind us together. May our home grow sweeter as the days pass. Make our home life more loving, patient, and kind. May our love be less selfish and more like the love of Jesus.

We ask for special blessings for this day. We will face dangers we are unaware of; protect us from them. We are vulnerable to accidents wherever we go; defend us from them. Grant us the grace to walk through the moral challenges around us without being harmed by them. Give Your angels charge over us to keep us in all Your ways. Lead us wherever we go so that we may not stumble. Make us strong for holy service. Let Your protection be over us all day, and give us strength for every duty. We ask all this in Jesus' precious name. Amen.

2. OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 12TH 2025

TOPIC: STAY HUMBLE II

MEMORISE:
"For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word." Isaiah 66:2

BIBLE READING: 1 KINGS 21:15-29

15 And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

16 And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

17 And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

18 Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it.

19 And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.

20 And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

21 Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,

22 And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.

23 And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.

24 Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.

25 But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

26 And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

27 And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

28 And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

29 Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? Because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.

MESSAGE:
After I became born again, I started hearing God speak to me, and I stopped doing anything without His guidance or approval. In those days, I would ask Him which routes to drive through so I would not get caught in traffic jams, and He would guide me. However, something happened that made Him stop speaking to me for a while. I was an interpreter in the church, and the General Superintendent took a special interest in me and made me his personal interpreter. When the other pastors in the Church realized that he had chosen me to be his interpreter, they stopped asking me to interpret for them out of respect for him.

One day, we had a programme, and a pastor told me that I would be interpreting for him during his sermon. I became angry, but I didn’t object because the Bible teaches that we should always honour and obey those whom God has placed over us (Romans 13:1-2). I interpreted during his sermon, but in my heart, I murmured, “How can you call me, the interpreter to the General Superintendent, to interpret for you?” At the end of the programme, as I walked towards my car, God told me, “Son, so you are now too big to interpret for my servant.” That was all He said, and I didn’t hear His voice again. The period that followed was like hell because He stopped speaking to me. I was constantly stuck in heavy traffic as His voice wasn’t guiding me anymore. I pleaded with Him and promised never to allow pride to creep into my heart again. Thankfully, He started speaking to me again.

Pride will make a Christian vulnerable to all arrows from the devil. However, when a Christian stays humble, God will be his or her defense. God will always fight for humble people because they have acknowledged through their humility that they cannot fight for themselves.

In today’s Bible reading, Ahab did a terrible thing before God, and God sent Elijah to pass judgment on him for his wickedness. When he heard God’s word, Ahab humbled himself before God, who had sworn to destroy him. When God saw that he had humbled himself, He sent Elijah to tell him that He would not bring evil in his days (1 Kings 21:27-29). God postponed Ahab’s judgement because of his humility.

Beloved do not leave yourself vulnerable to the devil’s attacks. Humble yourself before God, and He will cause you to always walk in victory.

KEY POINT:
God rejects the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: ACTS 4-5

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE

HYMN 31: YIELD NOT TO TEMPTATION

1 Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin;
Each vict’ry will help you some other to win;
Fight manfully onward, dark passions subdue;
Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through.

Refrain:
Ask the Saviour to help you,
Comfort, strengthen, and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.

2 Shun evil companions, bad language disdain,
God’s name hold in reverence, nor take it in vain;
Be thoughtful and earnest, kindhearted and true;
Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through.

3 To him that o’ercometh, God giveth a crown,
Through faith we will conquer, though often cast down;
He who is our Saviour, our strength will renew;
Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through.

*The Bible's prophetic passages elicit a range of reactions from readers. Some find them captivating and enlightening, while others find them perplexing and challenging to understand. And yet, some view them as a detailed guide for the future, while others see them as mere religious writings. For many, the question remains: 'How do these prophetic passages affect me'?*

*Today's passage describes Daniel's prayer after he understood Jeremiah's prophecy that Israel's captivity would last seventy years. As the seventy years neared an end, Daniel began to pray for his nation, seeking God's mercy. Much has been written about Daniel's intercessory prayer, highlighting his humility, selflessness, sense of collective responsibility, deep reverence for God, and proper grasp of divine attributes. However, this prayer also, calls our attention to an often overlooked aspect: the appropriate response to biblical prophecies.*

*Jeremiah predicted Israel's captivity and the defeat of Babylon. When the Persians conquered Babylon, Daniel's response was that of repentance rather than celebration or negotiations for immediate release. He understood that spiritual restoration was necessary before physical return to their land. Daniel realised that simply returning to Judah without repenting from the sin that caused their captivity would be meaningless. He chose to focus on restoring a sound relationship with God first, recognising that God's promise of restoring Israel would only be fulfilled if the people turned back to Him. Repentance was the key to true restoration and freedom.*

*Daniel's perspective on living in captivity as a Jew revealed his understanding that God's true desire for His people is freedom rather than servitude. He viewed exile as a shameful curse, causing confusion and desolation, attributing it all to sin. Unlike focusing on when they would return from captivity, Daniel prioritised addressing the root cause of their situation and their readiness to return. This challenges us to not just decipher prophecy but to engage in an introspective conversation with God, leading to repentance and a fervent rejection of sin. Daniel's example serves as a powerful lesson for us today, emphasising the importance of responding to God's message with introspection and a commitment to righteousness.*

*PATHWAY TO RECOVERY AND RESTORATION*

*TEXT:* DANIEL 9:4-19.

4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O LORD, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
6 Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
7 O LORD, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.
8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.
12 And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.
14 Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.
15 And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
16 O LORD, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
17 Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.
18 O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.
19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name

*Timeless Truth:*_"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land"_(2 Chronicles 7:14).

*INTRODUCTION*

When things go wrong, either through carelessness or ignorance, in an individual's life, community or nation, and God appears far away, what should the righteous do? Israel, after repeated warnings from God through His Word and His prophets, found herself in spiritual abyss, captivity and shame. The Temple, the emblem of divine presence and favour was destroyed and the presence of God left them. They got to a situation where they were totally helpless and it would take divine intervention for them to be restored and fully recover all the good and gracious things of God they had lost. It took the righteous Daniel to help them in their helplessness just as the righteous today are the solution to the global, national, family and individual spiritual, economic and social captivity. Jeremiah had prophesied that the captivity would last for 70 years. *"For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place"* (Jeremiah 29:10). While Daniel and the princes were led into Babylon, Jeremiah remained and was prophesying to the remnants in Jerusalem. Daniel, being a prophet himself, did not know that Jeremiah had prophesied that the captivity would last for 70 years. It took Daniel some years in Babylon before he knew about that prophecy after reading the books of the prophecy of Jeremiah. If he had despised the book written by Jeremiah, he would have remained in ignorance of this important prophecy. This shows that powerful prophetic ministry like that of Daniel could not be a replacement for the reading the books of the Scriptures. How did Daniel respond to this revelation positively and profitably? How should we respond when darkness and despondency cover someone's life, or community life? The text gives the secret.

*1. Honest Reflections and Confession*

a. After years of suffering in captivity, Daniel was able to make honest reflections of what brought God's most favoured nation to captivity. Those honest reflections guided him to offer the right and acceptable prayers. When a nation or individuals find themselves in economic, spiritual, social and security waterloo, which is very abnormal, the first thing is to honestly reflect on "how did we get here?". It was easy for Daniel to put the blame at the doors of kings that ruled after Josiah as the cause. But there cannot be failed leadership without foolish followers. The outcome of the honest reflections of Daniel, guided by the revelation of the Word of God, reflected in his response. *"And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession"*. Honest and humble reflections are the gate way to restoration and recovery of all that is lost. Unfortunately, the sinning Israel could not help itself and prayed rightly. They could be busy licking their wounds and occupied with blaming God. They could have resigned to their fate as helpless and allow God to do "what seemth right in His eyes". They could be so much drowned in survival mode occupied with the cares of this life. It took a righteous, burdened and prayerful Daniel to lead the revival and restoration through prayers of confession. Though Israel would catch the fire later, the righteous or the awakened backslider must take the lead. He said, *"O LORD, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments"*. He prayed with correct knowledge of God. The righteous who want to lead a revival of restoration or full recovery must be given to studying the Scriptures so that he would be able to pray and act according to the mind of God.
b. His prayers show that his reflections were guided by the knowledge of God and His Word. *"We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled"*. His reflections accepted that he had his own blame one way or the other. He was able to reflect deep into the problem and the cause for the curse. *"Even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land"*. It is only sin that makes someone, a people and nation to be out of favour with God. It may be a sin of ignorance, omission or commission. *"Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you"* (Jeremiah 5:25). Once there is conviction of sins and acceptance of guilt and taking full responsibility followed by sincere confession and repentance from sins, there will be restoration and recovery of all the good things of God lost.

*Question*

Do you often reflect honestly on "where have I/we missed it?" Are you a solution or part of the problem?

*2. Holy and Righteous Condemnation*

a. The next mindset of Daniel helped his prayer to be acceptable to God. He did not blame God nor saw Him as the problem. Rather, he exonerated God from all blame and wrongs. If you blame God or others for your losses, how does that solve the problem and bring true restoration of all lost blessings. *"To the LORD our God belongeth mercies and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against him"*. He reflected on the character of God and blamed himself and others repeatedly as the problem. He itemized the wrongs so that confession would be meaningful and acceptable.
*"Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets"*. He concluded that they were all guilty and were worthy of divine condemnation. This is the kind of humble confession that heaven would listen to when seeking forgiveness, salvation, restoration, revival and full recovery of all that was lost through sin. *"Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us"*. The people, the priests and the prophets had long departed from the Word of God and he admitted that no one could claim perfection when he had not done all that was needed to stop or retard the flow of ungodliness and worldliness.
b. He clearly set forth the righteousness of God in condemning their evils and sent them to captivity after repeated calls to repentance. His actions were in accordance with His Word and were never impulsive or thoughtless. *"And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil"*. His Word is His bond and that is why the answers to every hidden or cloudy things are all in the Bible. *"For thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name"* (Psalm 138:2). A man of the Bible will always know the reasons for the seasons and the divine and enduring solution to every challenge. He understood the gravity of their sins. *"For under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem"*. He justified God's actions and condemned the actions of his people using the Word of God as the guide. *"As it is written in the law of Moses, (referring to Deuteronomy 28), all this evil is come upon us*". Revival and restoration is simply revival and restoration back to the full Word of God in all daily activities.

*Question*

What are the content of Daniel's prayers that made his prayers undeniable by God?

*3. Humble Repentance and Cry*

a. It is not enough to make confession and acknowledge the righteousness of God. There must be repentance if God will return and bring full recovery and restoration of lost glory. This will also involve passionate prayer to God of which crying for mercy is an integral part.
*"O LORD, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us"*. The supplication was clear, reasonable and sensible. *"Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the LORD 's sake"*. The prayer that will reverse every evil and return all lost blessings is not a dry prayer, but the prayer that is heartfelt, from a burdened heart backed up with crying to God. The clarity and the understanding of the depth of departure from God will aid the burden in the supplications and make them effective and impactful.

*Question*

Do you have burden in your prayers for yourself, city, community, church or country?

*Prayer Points*

1.Praise God for His mercy, compassion and justice .
2.Ask God to convict you deeper,of the sins in your life, your community, church and nation .
3.Ask for the touch of the Holy Spirit to know how to pray with groaning and burden .
4.Pray that God will move in all the brethren to be solutions and that God will visit the Church and restore all they have lost in Christ.

Repentance was the key to true restoration and freedom.* *Daniel's perspective on living in captivity as a Jew revealed his understanding that God's true desire for His people is freedom rather than servitude. Daniel's example serves as a powerful lesson for us today, emphasising the importance of responding to God's message with introspection and a commitment to righteousness.* ✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` _*Don't just accumulate scriptural knowledge; let it move you to action.*_ 📜📜```THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:``` *EZEKIEL 3-5*📜📜. 4. *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY* *ⓂANNA* WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH, 2025 *PATHWAY TO RECOVERY AND RESTORATION* *TEXT:* DANIEL 9:4-19. 4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O LORD, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; 5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: 6 Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him; 10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. 19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name *Timeless Truth:*_"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land"_(2 Chronicles 7:14). *INTRODUCTION* When things go wrong, either through carelessness or ignorance, in an individual's life, community or nation, and God appears far away, what should the righteous do? *1. Honest Reflections and Confession* a. *Question* Do you often reflect honestly on "where have I/we missed it?" Are you a solution or part of the problem? *2. Holy and Righteous Condemnation* a. *Question* What are the content of Daniel's prayers that made his prayers undeniable by God? *3. Humble Repentance and Cry* a. *Question* Do you have burden in your prayers for yourself, city, community, church or country? *Prayer Points* 1.Praise God for His mercy, compassion and justice 🙏. 2.Ask God to convict you deeper,of the sins in your life, your community, church and nation 🙏. 3.Ask for the touch of the Holy Spirit to know how to pray with groaning and burden 🙏. 4.Pray that God will move in all the brethren to be solutions and that God will visit the Church and restore all they have lost in Christ🙏. *HYMN:* Let Him in *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* Ezekiel 3-5. Buy the truth and sell it not. Your eternity and holiness is not for sale.
