BIBLE STUDY: “Faith Like a Child — The Power We’ve Forgotten” Faith Is a Living Force — Not an Emotion Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” The Greek word for faith is πίστις — pistis Meaning: trust, conviction, confidence, divine persuasion. This is not emotional hype or positive thinking. It is Spirit-produced certainty — a supernatural persuasion that God’s Word is more real than what we see. Real faith begins where human logic ends. Logic says “prove it.” Faith says “He already spoke it.” Hebrew Insight The Hebrew word for faith is אֱמוּנָה — emunah Meaning: steadfastness, faithfulness, firmness. It’s less about “believing something” and more about living in loyalty to God’s character. Faith in Scripture = Trusting God enough to act on His Word. Childlike Faith — Pure, Uncorrupted Trust Matthew 18:3 “Unless you become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” The Greek word for child is παιδίον — paidion Meaning: a little child still under the care of a parent. Jesus is not calling us to be childish or naïve — He is calling us to trust like children. A child: Falls and gets up again without fear Trusts the parent’s word without doubt Doesn’t worry about provision Doesn’t calculate risks Doesn’t question love This is the faith adults lose because of disappointment, wounds, or overthinking. Hebrew Reminder Emunah does not mean “I hope so.” It means: I stand firm because God is faithful. A child doesn’t “believe God can.” A child lives like He already has. How Faith Gets Corrupted — Replaced by Human Systems Modern life trains us to replace trust in God with dependence on systems: We trust: Insurance instead of Jehovah Jireh Medicine and technology instead of Jehovah Rapha Governments/systems instead of Jehovah Nissi Romans 10:17 “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” If we stop hearing the Word, faith weakens. If we keep feeding on the world, fear strengthens. Fear grows by exposure. Faith grows by revelation. Faith Is a Muscle — It Grows Through Action James 2:26 “Faith without works is dead.” Greek word for works: ἔργον — ergon Meaning: action, effort, proof, demonstration. Faith is not proven by words; Faith is proven by movement. Faith grows when you: Pray for the sick Step out even when you feel unqualified Declare God’s Word when fear whispers Obey instruction even when you don’t understand Faith grows like a muscle — through resistance. No resistance = No growth. Why So Few Miracles Today? Because many Christians have: Faith in faith, not faith in Christ Head knowledge, not heart conviction Church attendance, but no obedience Belief about God, but no belief in God Mark 11:22 “Have faith in God.” In Greek it reads: “Have the faith of God.” Meaning: possess and operate in God-level confidence. The early Church saw miracles daily. We see sermons weekly. Why? Because they walked in emunah — living faith. We often walk in information — mental belief. Faith Is Restored Through Relationship, Not Hype Childlike faith returns when we return to the Father. Habakkuk 2:4 “The righteous will live by his faith.” Hebrew: “The righteous lives by his emunah — steadfast trust.” Every time you choose faith over fear… Obedience over convenience… God’s voice over human logic… …your childlike faith is restored.
