๐Ÿ•Š DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 320
DATE: 16TH NOVEMBER, 2025
TOPIC: THE DANGER OF HYPOCRISY
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 7:3–5 (KJV)
“And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”
MESSAGE

The Word of God is true, pure, and corrective. In this passage, Jesus strongly rebukes the spirit of hypocrisy—an attitude that has silently eaten into the hearts of many, including believers. Hypocrisy is pretending to be what you are not, speaking what you do not mean, and living in a disguise that hides the true state of your heart. It is saying “I love you” while secretly carrying hatred. It is pretending to walk in light while hiding in darkness.

Jesus exposes a common problem in the church today: We judge others harshly while ignoring the sin in our own lives. We point out the small fault (mote) in our brother’s eye, yet we carry a whole beam—a larger, deeper issue—in our own.

A chronic liar criticizes another for lying. A person living in immorality preaches purity with boldness. A gossip rebukes rumour-mongering as though they are innocent. Sisters condemn indecency yet dress differently behind closed doors. This is the blindness Jesus warns us about. How can a blind man lead another blind man? How can you condemn a sin you secretly practice? How can you correct others when you refuse to correct yourself?

God is calling us to self-examination. Before pointing fingers, look inward. Before criticizing, evaluate your own steps. Before preaching to others, ensure your own life is aligned. You lose moral authority when your lips preach what your life contradicts.

Christianity is not a stage where we perform righteousness—it is a life where we live it daily. Jesus instructs us: “First remove the beam from your own eye. “Only then can we see clearly enough to help another. Child of God, hypocrisy blinds, hardens, and deceives. Honesty with yourself is the first step to true spiritual growth.

PRAYER

Father, search my heart and expose every form of hypocrisy within me. Give me the humility to confront my own weaknesses before correcting others. Help me walk in sincerity, purity, and truth. Amen.
