[17/11, 8:36 pm] Gideon Deshi Katmut: 1. Evening Prayer
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth [shall be thy] shield and buckler. ⏤ Psalm 91:4
God does not want us to worry about the future. He wants us to trust Him today. ⏤ Corrie ten Boom
Father, we are like little children in this vast world and cannot take care of ourselves. But we are so grateful that we are Your children and that You are our Father. We trust in Your eternal care. We know that You will never let us fall out of Your love and protection. As night falls again, we come close to You. We hide ourselves in the secret place of Your love and protection.
We ask You to forgive all the sins we’ve committed against You today. Renew our hearts more deeply, so that we may keep Your commandments and live in harmony with Your will in both our thoughts and actions.
Tonight, Father, we also remember Your other children around us. Some of them are happy; may they not forget You in their joy. Bless all pure happiness and let it lead to a closer relationship with You. Some of Your children are facing challenges. Some are struggling to find their daily bread. Some have sickness in their homes. Others have loved ones who are not living as they should, who do not love You or walk in Your ways, and their hearts are heavy with concern. Some have lost dear ones and are grieving deeply. For all these neighbors, we pray tonight. Bless them all. Give them the grace they need. Send relief and comfort in the way You know is best. And give us the grace to do our part in helping them in Your name, through Jesus Christ. Amen.

2. Change Is Possibl.
Put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:24)
Christianity means change is possible. Deep, fundamental change. It is possible to become tenderhearted when once you were callous and insensitive. It is possible to stop being dominated by bitterness and anger. It is possible to become a loving person, no matter what your background has been.
The Bible assumes that God is the decisive factor in making us what we should be. With wonderful bluntness, the Bible says, “Put away . . . all malice” and be “tenderhearted” (Ephesians 4:31–32). It does not say, “If you can . . . ” Or, “If your parents were tenderhearted . . . ” Or, “If you have not been terribly abused . . . ” It says, “Be . . . tenderhearted.”
This is wonderfully freeing. It frees us from the terrible fatalism that says change is impossible for me. It frees me from mechanistic views that make my background my destiny.
And God’s commands always come with freeing, life-changing truth to believe. For example,
God adopted us as his children. We have a new Father and a new family. This breaks the fatalistic forces of our “family-of-origin.” “Call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven” (Matthew 23:9).
God loves us as his children. We are “loved children” (Ephesians 5:1). The command to imitate the love of God does not hang in the air, it comes with power: “Be imitators of God, as loved children.” “Love!” is the command and being loved by God is the power.
God has forgiven us in Christ. Be tenderhearted and forgiving just as God in Christ forgave you (Ephesians 4:32). What God did in Christ is powerful. It makes change possible. The command to be tenderhearted has more to do with what God did for you than what your mother or your father did to you. This kind of command means you can change.
Christ loved you and gave himself up for you. “Walk in love, as Christ loved Eunice Gankpe ” (Ephesians 5:2). The command comes with life-changing truth. “Christ loved you.” At the moment when there is a chance to love, and some voice says, “You are not a loving person,” you can say, “Christ’s love for me makes me a new kind of person. His command to love is just as surely possible for me as his promise of love is true for me.”
Don’t be a fatalist. Be a Christian. Change is possible. God is alive. Christ is risen. The promises are true.
3. Serving Others
If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet
- John 13:14
What a shocking scene this is! Even the disciples, who had watched Jesus touch lepers and heal cripples and eat with sinners, were unprepared for this parting command and example.
The night before Jesus' horrible trial and crucifixion, he took time to eat supper with his disciples and instruct them one final time. But after supper, he got up from the table, took a towel, poured water in a basin, and began to wash his own disciples' feet!
Peter was so taken back at the sight that he insisted Jesus would never wash his feet. The idea of his Lord and Master bowing in front of him and performing this menial service was unthinkable.
When Jesus had completed the task, in spite of their protestations, he then commanded that they in the future do the same for one another: "if I, who am your Lord and Master, have washed your feet, there is no pride or repulsion that should keep you from the same service."
What about you? Are you too good to do what Jesus did? Are you too proud to bow and serve like Jesus?
This service of washing one another's feet is clearly, Jesus intimates, symbolizing more than just kind words or pats on the back. It means a willingness to exhort and encourage and admonish one another toward a holy life -- and to receive such exhortations ourselves. It means a willingness to get our hands dirty, if need be, in order to help one another.
Are you shocked and offended at the idea of your Lord rolling up his sleeves and bowing down to serve others? Or are you inspired by it, as Jesus means for us to be? http://www.baptistbiblehour.org/resources/devotional/serving-others-9/

Wisdom is Better than Strength – (Proverbs 30:24-28)
Daily Proverbs
There are four things which are little on the earth, but they are exceedingly wise: The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer; the rock badgers are a feeble folk, yet they make their homes in the crags; the locusts have no king, yet they all advance in ranks; the spider skillfully grasps with its hands, and it is in kings’ palaces.
Daily Bible Study
In these passages Agur tells us of four small and seemingly insignificant creatures. However, as we look closely at them there is a wisdom seen in the behavior of each of these creations of God. This is a behavior which reveals the love of a wise creator. Ants, though small work diligently, they work in cooperation and they are not slack; they gather food for winter and help one another for the good of the colony. The rock badgers though small and weak are very diligent. Rock badgers climb and find safety and shelter in the high rock clefts. These are part of God’s creation and show the attention and detail of a loving Creator.
Locust show organization, cooperation and teamwork coming together as one unit, all marching in formation, yet they have no one to lead them. And the spider shows resourcefulness as well as design and beauty in its web. Moreover, the lowly spider can be found in even the most costly of palaces and buildings of men. Together with the rest of nature, they form God’s natural revelation to us. How is this so? Because, as we look at the intricacies of nature, we see the hand of our creator at work and therefore from this we know God is with us and that He is the Author of Creation. And this in turn should cause us to seek after God with all our hearts. And when we do so, God will make Himself known to us and bring us to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord.
