๐ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 323
DATE: 19TH NOVEMBER, 2025
TOPIC: GOD ACCEPTS THE PERSON BEFORE THE SACRIFICE
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: Genesis 4:4–5 (KJV)
“And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect…”
MESSAGE
God is always more interested in the person than in the sacrifice they bring. Before God accepts your offering, He examines your heart. No one can bribe God with sacrifices while living in sin, bitterness, unforgiveness, or injustice. God weighs the heart before He receives the gift.
Jesus taught this clearly in Matthew 5:23–24:If you remember that your brother has something against you while presenting your gift at the altar, leave it there, reconcile, then return to offer. Meaning: God prioritizes purity, reconciliation, and relationship over giving.
In Isaiah 1, God told Israel He was tired of their many sacrifices—not because sacrifices were wrong, but because their hearts were corrupt. What God desired was repentance:“Wash you… cease to do evil… though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.”He wanted transformation, not empty ritual.
The story of Cain and Abel makes this truth clear:God accepted Abel first, and then his offering. The posture of Abel’s heart made his sacrifice acceptable. Cain also offered—but his heart was wrong, so God rejected both the man and the offering.
Child of God, God values character over contribution, holiness over gifts, and the heart over the altar. Offering sacrifices while holding malice, bitterness, pride, hatred, or unforgiveness makes the sacrifice unfruitful before God.
And this is why you must first receive Jesus into your life. The Bible says,“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.” (Proverbs 15:8).Until Christ purifies your heart, your sacrifices, prayers, or service cannot ascend as a sweet fragrance before God. Only through Jesus do we become righteous and acceptable before the Father.
This is why David prayed,“Create in me a clean heart, O God… Search me… and see if there be any wicked way in me.”David understood that the heart is the true altar, and purity is the true sacrifice.God wants you first — your sincerity, repentance, purity, and obedience — before your worship, giving, or service.
PRAYER
Father, purify my heart and cleanse me from bitterness, unforgiveness, malice, and hidden sin. Help me to walk uprightly so that my life and sacrifices may be acceptable before You. Amen.
