Tradition says that Mary's parents Joachim and Anne were without child for a long time. They received heavenly message that they would bear a child in the near future. They made a vow to gift the child to the Temple of God and they fulfilled their vow by presenting Mary in the God's Temple at the age of three. Mary remained in the church till her puberty and served there.
