Good evening, brethren.

1. Do you pray in the evening? Our evening prayer focuses on"God's presence and comfort."
2. Are you holding fast to your hope?
3. Do you know God's picture for marriage and family life? P1.
4. Do you know that the human race lies in ruin spiritually. Morally and physically?
To know more, read the message below:

1. Evening Prayer

The LORD [is] thy keeper: the LORD [is] thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. ⏤ Psalm 121:5-6

The prayer that prevails is not the work of lips and fingertips, but the cry of a broken heart and the travail of a stricken soul. ⏤ Samuel Chadwick

O Almighty and Most Merciful Lord, we beseech You to fulfill Your gracious promise to be present with Your people always.

As the pillar of fire gave light to Your people in ancient days, may this night be filled with Your light for us. May its brightness surround us. As the stars fill the sky, may Your promises pour their beams of divine light and love upon us. May we rest under Your protection as sweetly as a little child sleeps in the arms of a loving mother.

Look down upon our neighborhood and see every home. Some are darkened by affliction. In sick rooms, the lamp will burn all night as loving caregivers sit in silence, tending to their dear ones. Be in those homes and sit with the watchers, whispering words of cheer and hope.

Other homes have an empty chair at the table and in the family circle. Send Your comfort. Make the truth of immortality so real that death doesn’t seem like death at all, and the departed don’t feel gone but near in Jesus.

Still, other homes are filled with anxious mothers and fathers, hearts breaking over children who have gone astray. Hear the sobbing prayers that rise from these saddest of all homes. Find the wandering ones and save them. Then there are homes that are very happy, filled with love, blessings, and mercies, with unbroken circles. Give these homes Your joy and peace, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

2. Hold Fast to Your Hope.
So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. (Hebrews 6:17–18)

Why does the writer of Hebrews encourage us to hold fast to our hope? If the final enjoyment of our hope was obtained and irrevocably secured by the blood of Jesus, then why does God tell us to hold fast?

The answer is this:

What Christ bought for us when he died was not the freedom from having to hold fast, but the enabling power to hold fast.

What he bought was not the nullification of our wills as though we didn’t have to hold fast, but the empowering transformation of our wills so that we want to hold fast.

What he bought was not the canceling of the commandment to hold fast, but the fulfillment of the commandment to hold fast.

What he bought was not the end of exhortation, but the triumph of exhortation.

He died so that you would do exactly what Paul did in Philippians 3:12, “I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.” It is not foolishness, it is the gospel, to tell a sinner to do what Christ alone can enable him to do; namely, hope in God.

So, I exhort you with all my heart: Reach out and take hold of that for which you have been taken hold of by Christ. Hold it fast with all your might — which is his might. His blood-bought gift of your obedience.

God’s Picture for Marriage and the Family Part I – (Proverbs 31:10-12)

Daily Proverbs

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Daily Bible Study
What remains of this chapter of Proverbs is an acrostic poem regarding the virtues of an excellent wife. Each of the remaining verses starts with a letter of the Jewish alphabet and ends with a mention of the woman’s excellence. The picture here is of a married woman with children as was the custom in the ancient near east. The woman in this poem is not only blessed, but is also a blessing to her husband and children. The woman embodied here in this poem shows the full range of wisdom in all areas of life which is commended throughout the entire book of proverbs. As we read the opening verses we see the value and rarity of a virtuous wife, this is because she is a gift from God.

Our spouses are a gift from God which He gave us to complete each other, and here in these passages we see just that. This is the picture of excellence in marriage and the portrait of the very real importance of a wife and mother. That is why this dark world works so hard to hide this image. We have to remember Satan and this dark world wants to destroy the family, because if they can do that then they destroy lives and turn people away from God. The bond between husband and wife is meant by God to be one of the strongest bonds in human relationships. And in the family structure the husband lovingly supports and cares for the wife and family and in return the wife enriches the bonds between husband and children which holds the family together as they both grow in Christ.

Unholy, Unrighteous, Unhappy
All of history and the daily newspaper testify that the human race lies in ruin—spiritually, morally, and physically. The long parade of gods, both virtuous and obscene, and a thousand varieties of vain and meaningless religious practices declare our spiritual degeneration, while disease, old age, and death testify sadly to the completeness of our physical decay. By nature, men and women are unholy; and by practice we are unrighteous. That we are also unhappy is of small consequence. But it is of overwhelming importance to us that we should seek the favor of God while it is possible to find it and that we should bring ourselves under the plenary authority of Jesus Christ in complete and voluntary obedience. To do this is to invite trouble from a hostile world and to incur such unhappiness as may naturally follow. Add the temptation of the devil and a lifelong struggle with the flesh and it will be obvious that we will need to defer most of our enjoyments to more appropriate time!

Verse
And so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. Romans 5:12

Thought
By nature, men and women are unholy; and by practice we are unrighteous. That we are also unhappy is of small consequence.

Prayer
Lord, I trust that when You come to make all that is wrong right again, we will live life just as You planned.
