1. Morning Prayer

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. ⏤ Psalm 19:14

Prayer is not overcoming God's reluctance, but laying hold of His willingness. ⏤ Martin Luther

Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, we ask You to take away our sin. O God, the Father of all mercies, who did not spare Your only begotten Son but delivered Him up for us all, for His sake give us all things needful for our comfort, strength, and salvation. May we always be submissive and obedient to Your holy will. May we live for You, giving in consecrated service all that You so richly give to us. Make us truly like You.

We ask You to give us grace for this day’s life. Set a watch before the door of our lips, that we may speak only words that honor You. Keep our hearts in Your holy keeping, for we cannot keep them for You—may we think only reverent, loving, true, pure, and worthy thoughts. Prepare us for Your worship, both in our own home and in Your sanctuary. May we truly be in the Spirit on this Lord’s day.

Bless our home life today. May it be holy and happy. May Your love sweeten ours. May we live together as a family with patience, affection, and mutual thoughtfulness and kindness. Bless us in all our relationships with others.

We ask You to pour out Your Spirit on all who will preach the gospel, all who will teach in Sunday schools, and all missionaries. May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Bless us and keep us. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

2. OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: SUNDAY DECEMBER 7TH 2025

TOPIC: THE TRUE MEANING OF PROMOTION

MEMORISE:
"This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work." 1 Timothy 3:1 (KJV)

BIBLE READING: 1 PETER 5:1-4

1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

MESSAGE:
When people are promoted in their secular jobs, they can get promoted to positions where they will have less work to do than when they were at lower levels. In the kingdom of God, however, the real meaning of promotion is more work.

I recall many years ago, when I had not yet become the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, I saw the General Superintendent praying all through the night on one occasion, and I was worried. I thought something terrible had happened, so I asked him what the problem was the following morning. He laughed and said that I would understand much later. Many years later, when I became the General Overseer, I understood because I now pray all night too. As God promotes you in ministry, the work and sacrifices that you need to engage in will increase. For example, I had never spent Father’s Day with my family until 2020, during the coronavirus induced lockdown. I am also extremely happy whenever I have the opportunity to sleep in my own bed because it now happens very rarely. The amount of time I have to rest now is less than the amount of time I had to do so when The Redeemed Christian Church of God had 100,000 members. When God promotes you in ministry, don’t get excited about it in the flesh. Instead, you should be sober because it means that you have to increase your spiritual capacity so you can be a blessing to more souls. You should seek to draw closer to God rather than waste time rejoicing among men.

When a fellow is promoted in God’s Kingdom, it is a call to more and greater responsibilities. Hence, when you see genuine ministers of God being promoted in ministry, don’t envy them. The higher you go in God’s kingdom, the more the good work you must do increases.

It is also important to know that when God promotes men and gives them greater responsibilities, He also supplies them with a greater measure of grace. You do not have to be scared about greater responsibilities that come with God’s promotion because He will make all grace abound to you as He lifts you higher (2 Corinthians 9:8). As we read earlier in today’s memory verse, Paul said that desiring a higher office in God’s kingdom is good. Therefore, you should desire for God to keep promoting you as you continue to serve Him.

KEY POINT:
Promotion in God’s kingdom is a call to greater responsibilities

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: GALATIANS 4-6

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 8: I NEED THEE EVERY HOUR

1 I need Thee ev'ry hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford.

Refrain:

I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Ev'ry hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Saviour,
I come to Thee.

2 I need Thee ev'ry hour,
Stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their pow’r
When Thou art nigh.

3 I need Thee ev'ry hour,
In joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide,
Or life is vain.

4 I need Thee ev'ry hour,
Teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises
In me fulfill.

5 I need Thee every hour
Most Holy One;
Oh, make me Thine indeed,
Thou blessed Son!

3. MORNING TEA. THE WORD FOR TODAY
SUNDAY DECEMBER 7, 2025.
"FIGHT FOR YOUR MARRIAGE (5)"
‘Many waters cannot quench love.’ Song of Solomon 8:7 NIV

YOU QUICKLY discover that the greatest threat to marriage is—selfishness! A mother was trying to explain to her little son the benefits of unselfishness. She concluded her talk by saying, ‘We’re in this world to help others.’ After due consideration the boy asked, ‘Well then, what are others here for?’ When two people put their own individual needs and wants first, they’re on a collision course. Let’s look at some examples of selfishness in marriage: a) In-laws. It’s a sign of selfishness and immaturity when you constantly harp about what your parents said, and how they did things. It’s unfair to your spouse and it’ll hurt your relationship. b) Pornography. The Psalmist wrote, ‘I refuse…to look at corrupting people and degrading things’ (Psalms 101:3 TM). Pornography is as addictive as heroin and untold numbers of marriages are shipwrecked by it. Not only does it leave you feeling ashamed, it can devastate your partner’s self-worth. c) Disagreements. Don’t be like the woman who told her friend, ‘We’ve been married for twenty years and never quarrelled once. If a difference of opinion arises and I’m right, my husband gives in.’ Her friend asked, ‘And what if he’s right?’ Without hesitating she replied, ‘That has never happened!’ d) Prayerlessness. Ninety per cent of Christian couples don’t read the Bible and pray together. Do you? If Christ is the most important thing in your lives, He should be the thing you most enjoy sharing. When passion and physical beauty fade, your shared love for Christ will sustain you through the storms of life. So fight for your marriage.

God’s Wisdom Protects Us – (Proverbs 2:10-15)

Daily Proverbs

When wisdom enters your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you; understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things, from those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness; who rejoice in doing evil, and delight in the perversity of the wicked; whose ways are crooked, and who are devious in their paths.
Daily Bible Study
As we walk in the guidance of the Lord, through submission to the Holy Spirit, God performs a work in our hearts transforming us from the inside out. As we grow in the knowledge of God’s word, the Bible, we gain wisdom. Wisdom that not only helps us to better recognize evil; but we also gain protection because we build up godly discernment. God’s gift of wisdom combined with our faith in Jesus, helps us to recognize and avoid those who would commit evil. Godly wisdom helps us to avoid the dangerous consequences evil can bring to us and those around us. Moreover, by submitting to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, God directs our paths away from those who would entice us into rebellion against God. We have to remember we live in a fallen world, a world at enmity with God.

A world influenced by wickedness and rebellion and a world that would like to push God out of society and worship self and wickedness over all else. And those who do not follow Christ our under the influence of Satan, who is the power behind the world systems as they stand today. The Apostle Paul calls Satan, “the prince of the power of the air,” because he is the major influence behind the world’s thinking which includes the world’s philosophies, ideologies, social trends and movements. And because of the darkness this world is in, we have to rely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the discernment He has given to us. We do so in order to walk as the Lord leads us in this fallen world. We submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in order to carry out God’s will for our lives, which in turn helps to spread the Gospel of Salvation in Christ alone to those who are lost.
