45 years ago today, John Lennon was gunned down in New York City. Many people found out about it while watching Monday Night Football. I learned of the tragedy the next morning while listening to the radio before going to school. I was 16 and hadn’t been a big fan of John’s music (I actually loathed the Beatles then). Eventually, I bought two of his albums. Years later, I read that John had briefly embraced Christianity, but was talked out of it by his wife Yoko Ono. Ironically, Yoko had attended a Christian primary school while growing up in Japan. She’s still alive at 92. I pray Yoko will recognize her need for the Savior before passing away. 2 Peter 3:9 says the Lord “…is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
