Last night, my friend Mathew and I handed out a few gospel tracts while going for a walk. One man we chatted with professed to already know the Lord. I asked where he went to church. He replied, “I don’t.” I then asked, “Why not?” This man complained I was judging him. I tried to explain how important it is to be in a fellowship somewhere. He went on to talk about a pastor he’s gotten together with. He also asked how long I had my Bible. I replied, “I’ve been reading God’s word consistently for almost 35 years.” This man still insisted on knowing how long I had my current Bible. He went on to show us one he’s owned for 43 years and kept saying how “spiritual” he was. When loud music started blasting nearby, I used that as an excuse to end the conversation. As Mathew and I walked away, that man repeatedly shouted demonic accusations at us. No matter how you speak the truth in love, even some believers get easily offended and allow themselves to be used by the father of lies. Jesus said in Matthew 5:11, “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.”
