Good evening, brethren.
1. Our evening prayer focuses on "finding rest in Jesus."
2. Do you trust in the Lord?
3. Do you know that compremise is costly?
4. Do you find it difficult to forgive?
To know more, read the message below.
1. Evening Prayer
Come unto me, all [ye] that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ⏤ Matthew 11:28
God delights to answer prayer because it is His nature to be good and to show mercy. ⏤ Arthur Pink
We hear Your voice this evening inviting us to come to You for rest. We need rest, and we thank You for Your ordinance of night, when we can cease our labors and find renewal of strength in the quiet of the evening. We thank You for sleep, which refills nature's exhausted fountains, and renews the life that has been used in the day's experiences. May You give us blessing in sleep tonight.
We thank You also for the spiritual rest You give to those who come to You. You alone can give us this rest. You alone can take away sin and the consciousness of guilt and deliver us from sin's penalty and power. You alone can give us rest in the assurance of Your love and Your power to make all things work together for our good. Give us Your peace. We do not ask for all care to be removed from our lives, but for so much of Your life in us that, come what may, our souls shall be quiet in You. As we learn from You, may we find rest for our souls.
In the darkness, may You hide us and shelter us. Let no harm befall us. Keep our dwelling from danger. Preserve us all in good health. Sanctify to us all the experiences of this day. Bless all that we have done, and use the words we have spoken. Forgive our mistakes, follies, and all our sins.
We ask for blessings on all our friends. Bless our friendships and make them more and more tender, constant, and true. May we all be Your friends—faithful, true, and constant. Help us to receive Your friendship into our hearts, and may its blessing enrich our lives. Forgive us, and grant us Your protecting care this night. We ask in Jesus' precious name. Amen.

Trust in the Lord, For It Is Good – (Proverbs 3:5-8)
Trust in the Lord, For It Is Good – (Proverbs 3:5-8)
Daily Proverbs
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.
Daily Bible Study
Our ways are not God’s ways and our thoughts are not God’s thoughts. The word used here for “trust” really means several things rolled into one word, e.g. trust, love, respect, reverence, and desire to be with God. This is what is really meant by “trust in the Lord,” and this is something that can only be done by Christians. Because it’s only from our faith in Jesus that we can truly know how to trust God. Our faith creates a new relationship between us and the Lord. Moreover, our faith brings the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who brings about a change in our hearts. A change through which we learn and understand what it means to, “trust in the Lord” as we put our faith in Christ alone. Moreover, it’s only through Jesus that we have a restored relationship with God the Father. And only through Christ do we become children of God, adopted into the family of God through Jesus sacrifice for us and our faith in Him.
With our salvation comes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and God’s process of spiritual growth called “sanctification.” Sanctification is the process of spiritual growth carried out by the Holy Spirit as we are changed from the inside out. Moreover, as we study God’s word the Bible, we gain wisdom from God as the Holy Spirit helps to illuminate our understanding of scripture in light of who Jesus is and what He has done for us. God’s wisdom learned from His word, gives us a wisdom which not only leads to life, but leads to a more abundant life as we grow in our knowledge and joy of the Lord. In this passage the phrase, “fear of the Lord” does not mean to be afraid of God. Rather, it means to have a deep down love, respect, reverence and awe for God with a sense of wonder as we learn of His mighty deeds accomplished on behalf of those He calls His own. And this is something that only those who have a relationship with God through Christ can know and understand.

Compromise Is Costly
Christianity today is so entangled with this present world that millions never guess how radically they have missed the New Testament pattern. Compromise is everywhere, but, actually, no real union between the world and the Church is possible. When the Church joins up with the world, it is the true Church no longer but only a pitiful hybrid thing but an object of smiling contempt to the world and an abomination to the Lord! Nothing could be clearer than the pronouncements of the Scriptures on the Christian’s relation to the world. The confusion that gathers around this matter results from the unwillingness of professing Christians to take the Word of the Lord seriously. This whole thing is spiritual in its essence. A Christian is what he is not by ecclesiastical manipulation but by the new birth. He is a Christian because of a Spirit, which dwells in him. Only that which is born by the Spirit is spirit, no matter how many church dignitaries work on it!
Verse
Pray . . . that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. John 17:15
Thought

Prayer
Lord, I pray that You will strengthen my resolve not to compromise my spiritual life with worldly values. Help our churches to be separate from the world as You command us.

4. Forgiveness
His lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not everyone his brother their trespasses
- Matthew 18:34-35
When someone asked Jesus what the great commandment is, he replied that we must love the Lord with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind. He commanded love!
Here Jesus commands forgiveness -- and, again, it must be a genuine forgiveness from your hearts.
It is difficult for us to live by the reality of an all-knowing God. We assume that if no one else sees that lustful glance, or hears that private thought, then we have gotten away with our stealthy sin. But God searches the heart!
For this reason, he demands heart-deep obedience, even in relation to forgiveness. We might feel as though we have done our duty -- and maybe a little more -- to let an offense or injury go without confrontation or angry words. But Jesus is not satisfied until we have actually forgiven that person in our heart.
How could Jesus demand so much from us? The context explains it all. Jesus relates the parable of a man who is forgiven an enormous debt to the king, and yet refuses to relinquish another person from a very small debt. The king therefore is angry and requires the enormous debt to be paid in full.
This is a clear picture of salvation. If we have been forgiven so much sin, freely by God's grace, how could we ever demand justice for some small offense against our own person?
Do you have some small debts you need to forgive, in light of God's free and amazing grace to you? http://www.baptistbiblehour.org/resources/devotional/forgiveness-10/
