Morning Prayer For ye were sometimes darkness, but now [are ye] light in the Lord: walk as children of light: ⏤ Ephesians 5:8 Prayer brings God’s omnipotence into the fight for human souls. ⏤ Wesley L. Duewel O God, as the morning has risen upon us, may the Sun of Righteousness also rise upon us. Chase away the shadows of darkness from us, and may we be light in the Lord. Enable us to put off all the works of darkness, whatever belongs to the old evil nature, and to put on the garments of light, doing the works of the day and not of the night. May our light shine before others so that seeing us, they may glorify You. We desire to grow in grace. As the deer pants after the water brooks, so our souls long after You. Our souls thirst for God, for the living God. Nothing else will satisfy them. This world has nothing in it to meet the needs of our immortal spiritual natures. Let us not try to feed ourselves on that which is not bread, but may we learn to bring all our needs to You who alone can satisfy them. We come to You to begin the day so that we may have Your blessing upon it. Nothing is complete without You. As the flowers need the dew and the sunshine to make them fragrant, so our lives need Your blessing to make them truly happy. Lay Your hand upon our heads as we bow before You. Direct our feet in all the day's paths. We want to carry out Your plan, not our own. Order our steps in Your word. Give us our work as we go on. Help us to be truthful, honest, and diligent in all our words and conduct. Prosper us in all our undertakings unless they are wrong. Defeat whatever we undertake that is not agreeable to Your will. We go out now in our Savior's name, and we ask You to take us and use us to do Your will and to bless others. We ask all for Jesus' sake. There is only one place that we can find an answer, and that is in the Bible. You do not need to study the Scriptures long to learn why sinners meet reverses and anguish. They are apart from God. Their sorrow is the result of their sins. But why do Christians suffer? Scripture teaches that many Christians suffer so that they may fellowship with others who are in affliction. Only those who have known sorrow and suffering can have fellowship with those in affliction. The Word of God also teaches that Christians suffer in order that they might glorify God in their lives. The Bible further teaches that Christians suffer in order that God might teach them lessons in prayer. Also, Christians suffer in order that God might bring them to repentance. If you continue sinning against God after claiming to be saved, you are indeed not saved. As the head of the palace government, he became a notorious enemy of the Jews. He extended his wicked attitude to Mordecai and his people. Haman even planned to destroy all the Jews because of Mordecai. In the end, God fought for Mordecai and his people. The pit that Haman planned to hang Mordecai turned out to be his own burial place. There are some children who are mean to others. They pick on others who are smaller or not as strong as they are. Has anyone ever treated you like that? Sadly, bullies like Haman are not just at school, they are everywhere, and they hurt a lot of people. And what do they end up with? A bunch of broken people. If you are a friend of Jesus, you do not have to be scared of an enemy. Instead, talk to God about him or her. God wants you to be kind to everyone. Do not be afraid, because as a child of God, the enemy cannot really hurt you. *God wants us to love our enemies by bringing them to the Saviour. Even though they might seem tough, many of them are hurting inside.
