1. Evening Prayer
Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. ⏤ Psalm 119:105
God shapes the world by prayer. ⏤ E.M. Bounds
Bless to us, our Father, the words we have just read from the holy book. We thank You for the Bible, in which we may learn Your will, where You have told us so clearly what pleases You in conduct and character, and have warned us so plainly against the things that are sinful, that displease You, and that will bring harm and curse to those who do them. We thank You, too, for the promises and comforts of Your word. You have filled the sacred pages with them. They shine like stars in our night. In the time of our darkness, of sorrow or trial, they give us light.
We pray for grace to understand Your word better and better. Incline us to love it. Its holiness makes our hearts disinclined to turn to it. Teach us to love it more, to receive it more cheerfully, to make it the guide of our life. May it become indeed a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. May it be rod and staff to us. We would hide it in our heart so that it shall transform our life, keeping us from sin and leading and impelling us to all holiness.
We pray for our home and for all our friends. But we would pray for all men. We pray for all who love the Lord Jesus Christ, wherever they may be. We pray for all sorts and conditions of people—for the evil and the good, for the poor, the sick, the tempted, the sinning. We pray especially for any who are our enemies. If we have done anything to make them enemies, help us to remove the evil so that the enmity may be destroyed. We pray for grace to live peacefully with all people, as far as it depends on us, and to be gentle, meek, unselfish, and patient. Forgive our many sins and grant us Your favor. We ask in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

Wisdom From God’s Word Brings Happiness – (Proverbs 3:13-18)
Wisdom From God's Word Brings Happiness – (Proverbs 3:13-18)
Daily Proverbs
Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.
Daily Bible Study
One of the many benefits of God's word and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is wisdom. As we grow in Christ and grow in the knowledge of God's word, we grow in wisdom and understanding. Which in turn brings guidance and direction into our lives along with a joy as we grow closer to the Lord. Another benefit of our spiritual growth has been an ever growing peace, we have in our souls, along with a joy that defies human understanding. These all stem from our relationship with Jesus and they are a natural byproduct of the process of spiritual growth carried out by the Holy Spirit in the lives of all those who follow Christ. This happens because the Holy Spirit does a continual work in our lives, bringing us into closer relationship with Jesus.
This work of the Holy Spirit enlightens our understanding as we read God's word and makes us more sensitive to the things of God. The process of spiritual growth carried out by the Holy Spirit is called "Sanctification" and as we read the Bible the Holy Spirit helps to "illuminate" scripture. This means the Holy Spirit increases our understanding of the Bible in light of Jesus, who He is and what He has done for us. This is because the Bible is God's revelation regarding His plan of salvation for mankind through Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore, because of Jesus, what He has done for us and our faith in Him, our salvation is secure. In addition, God's word gives us practical wisdom for our day to day lives. And through following God's instruction and guidance combined with the Holy Spirit's work, we live more abundant lives through Christ who strengthens us and provides all our needs.

No One Changes God’s Law
Because we live in a period known as the age of God’s grace, it has become a popular thing to declare that the Ten Commandments are no longer valid, no longer relevant in our society. With that context, it has become apparent that Christian churches are not paying attention to the Ten Commandments. But Dwight L Moody preached often in the commandments. John Wesley said he preached the commands of the Law to prepare the way for the gospel. R. A. Torrey told ministers if they did not preach the Law they would have no response to the preaching of the gospel. It is the Law that shows us our need for the gospel of salvation and forgiveness! It is accurate to say that our binding obligation is not to the Old Testament Law. As sincere Christians we are under Christ’s higher law—that which is represented in His love and grace. But everything that is morally commanded in the Ten Commandments still comprises the moral principles that are the will of God for His people. God’s basic moral will for His people has not changed!
Verse
I delight to do thy will, 0 my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. Psalm 40:8
Thought
It is the Law that shows us our need for the gospel of salvation and forgiveness!
Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your law, which showed me how much I need you. Thank You for Your grace that allowed me access to You!
