1. Morning Prayer

Come unto me, all [ye] that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ⏤ Matthew 11:28

In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart. ⏤ John Bunyan

Our Father, You have given us many invitations to come to You. You have invited us . . .
To come with our sins,
To come with our troubles,
To come with our mistakes,
To come with our cares,
To come with our sorrows.

You have told us to come at all times, that we shall . . .
Never be unwelcome,
Never be turned away,
Never find You too busy to hear us.

You have promised us . . .
Mercy for our sins,
Comfort for our sorrows,
Strength for our duties,
Wisdom for our ignorance, when we come to You.

We thank You for all these precious invitations and assurances.

What would we do, O God, if we might not thus come to You? To whom else could we go? There is no other in all the universe who could help us—as we must be helped. Our hearts are full of praise and rejoicing that we may thus come to You. There is nothing we cannot bring to You—nothing too small to bring—and nothing too large. We thank You that we are so blessed, that we have all Your divine love and grace to help us in our times of need. We need no other help but Yours. We come this morning with all our burdens.

We have sins. These are our worst burdens. They will sink us to eternal despair unless we find help. We thank You that the Lord Jesus bore our sins and bore them away. In His name, depending upon His atonement, we come with our sins.

We have other needs.
We are not strong enough for duty.
We cannot stand against the world and the power of Satan.
We have no wisdom for life’s problems, its duties, its responsibilities.
We need strength,
we need wisdom,
we need grace—for every moment!

So we come to You, our Father, as Your redeemed children. Receive us, bless us, keep us, and help us. We ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

2a. OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: TUESDAY DECEMBER 16TH 2025

TOPIC: LEARN EVERYDAY

MEMORISE:
"The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way." - (Psalm 25:9)

BIBLE READING: ACTS 17:10-11 (KJV)

10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

MESSAGE:
Someone once said that the world is a school, and those who are wise go to school to take lessons every day because there is always something to learn there. Proverbs 9:9 says that if you give instructions to a wise man, he will become wiser. You must be open to learning from others because everyone has something to teach you, even children. A teachable fellow is always willing and ready to learn. Mark 4:25 says;

For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

Anyone who is willing to learn every day will have more understanding and wisdom. A teachable fellow is open to knowledge and is always willing to add other people’s wisdom to his or her own. When you are teachable, you learn mainly through instructions, not by experience. For example, if you keep telling a boy not to put his hand in a fire and you constantly keep him away from hot objects, if the boy is not teachable, he will always want to run towards what you are trying to save him from. One day, he might eventually put his hand in the fire and get hurt. However, a teachable child will listen to instructions, obey them, and grow in wisdom. He or she will not have to experience the pain that comes from disobedience by nursing wounds that could have been avoided.

David was a very teachable fellow. Many times in the Bible, he prayed and asked God to teach him; He was always willing to learn. In Psalm 25:4, he asked God to teach him His paths. When you are open to learning about God’s paths, you can never miss your way. In Psalm 119:26 and Psalm 119:33, he asked God to teach him His statutes so that he could keep them until his death. In Psalm 119:66, he wanted to learn good judgment and knowledge. Also, he asked God to teach him to do His will in Psalm 143:10. No wonder, up until today, David remains the most celebrated king that Israel ever had.

Today’s Bible reading talks about some believers from Berea who were ready to learn. They received the word of God with all readiness of mind and searched the Scriptures daily. The Bereans were hungry for God’s word and remained meek enough to search the Scriptures daily.

Beloved, be like the Berean Christians and be committed to learning every day.

PRAYER POINT:
Dear Lord, I am willing to learn of You daily. Please teach me so that I can become more like You.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: PHILEMON 1, Titus 1-3

b. Topic: Master Teacher.

Text: Mathew 13:10-43.

Message:
Dr. Rosalie de Rosset has served for decades as a Communications professor at Moody Bible Institute. She specializes in teaching literature and in mentoring. “I love my students,” she says. “I love talking to them about their lives, their struggles, and the way Jesus meets them…God is good. His grace is profound, and my students have made teaching a marvel of an experience.”

Dr. de Rosset lives her life as an ardent follower of the Master Teacher, Jesus Christ. Today’s reading shows the heart of Christ who often taught with parables, using pictures and stories from everyday life. He wanted the meaning to be clear to those listening in faith (Matt. 13:10–17). He was perfectly in tune to the hearts and minds of His audience, and He always taught following the larger “lesson plan” of His Father.

The second story, later revealed to be an allegory, is built around a problem (vv. 24–28): A good man planted wheat, then his enemy came and planted weeds in the same field. This became known only when the plants sprouted. The solution was to sort it out at the harvest (vv. 29–30). Why wait? To make sure the wheat wasn’t harmed.

At the disciples’ request, Jesus explained the meaning (vv. 36–41). The good man is the Son of Man (Himself), while the enemy is the devil. The field is the world. The wheat represents people of the kingdom of God, that is, believers in the Son. The weeds represent everyone else. The harvesters are angels and the harvest is the final judgment. The core lesson here focuses on the two contrasting destinies: Sinners will be punished, while “the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father” (vv. 42–43).

3. MORNING TEA. THE WORD FOR TODAY
TUESDAY DECEMBER 16, 2025.
"MIND MANAGEMENT (1)"
‘Above all else, guard your heart.’ Proverbs 4:23 NIV

WE HEAR a lot these days about time management, financial management and weight management—but what about mind management? Shouldn’t we be more concerned about managing our minds than managing anything else? Jesus was. He guarded the gateway of His heart by refusing to concede in three areas: 1) The agenda of people who wanted to use Him for their own purposes. ‘Jesus saw that in their enthusiasm, they were about to grab Him and make Him king, so He slipped off and went back up the mountain to be by Himself’ (John 6:15 TM). Most of us would delight in the idea of becoming ‘king’. Even if we refused the crown, we’d enjoy considering the invitation! Not Jesus. 2) The naïveté of those who wanted to spare Him. When Jesus announced His death on the cross to the disciples, Peter objected. And when he failed to see the necessity of the cross, Jesus issued one of His harshest rebukes: ‘Get out of my way. Satan, get lost. You have no idea how God works’ (Matthew 16:23 TM). 3) The scorn of those who didn’t know Him or believe in Him. Before raising a girl from the dead, Jesus said to the people in the house, ‘She is only sleeping’ (Luke 8:52 GNT). And what was their response? They laughed at Him. Like all of us, Jesus had to face scorn. But unlike most of us, He refused to accept it. Note His response: ‘He put them all outside’ (Mark 5:40 RSV). Doubt, criticism and scorn weren’t allowed in the girl’s house—or in the mind of Christ. How about your mind?
