Good evening, brethren.
1. Our evening prayer focuses on "reflections of worship."
2. Do you need strength and encouragement?
3. Do you know that your heart can retain the Word of God?
4. Do you know that our wills must surrender?
To know more, read the message below.
1. Evening Prayer
One [thing] have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. ⏤ Psalm 27:4
Worship is the overflow of a grateful heart, redeemed and captivated by God's love. ⏤ A.W. Tozer
Lord, You have been gracious to us. You have blessed us. This evening we mingle our voices in praise to You for Your goodness. Your love is everlasting. Your grace is never-failing. Your faithfulness is eternal. You never weary in blessing us.
We thank You for all the privileges of this holy day. Sanctify to us the worship in which we have engaged, at home, and with Your people in the sanctuary. May our meditation on Your word enrich us and build up in us the beautiful things of Your grace. May the prayers we have offered be answered in Your loving fullness. May the glimpses of Your love and glory we have had today be inspirations in our souls in the days to come, making us long for the things that are heavenly. May the songs of the day sing in our hearts all the week.
May we have grace to follow the instructions we have received from Your word, so that our lives may be holier. Help us to put away the faults that have been disclosed in us as we have looked into Your word and have thought seriously of ourselves. Help us to put on the beautiful things that have been pointed out to us. So may Sunday be blessed to us, and may its lessons be wrought out in our lives.
May Your Spirit follow all the work of Your church this day, blessing all the preaching and teaching of Your word, and all efforts put forth by missionaries everywhere to make known the name of Jesus Christ. May Your kingdom come. May its power in people's hearts and lives become more and more complete. Grant us now a blessing as we go to our beds for the night. Spread over us Your shelter of love. And may grace, mercy, and peace be upon us forever. Amen.

2. Strength and Encouragement
Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you
- Isaiah 35:4
This is a heartening exhortation, but all the more so because it comes from God himself. God says, "I am coming; I will save you; do not be afraid; be strong."
These words are addressed to the fearful, to those whose hearts are trembling and weary and worried. There are a thousand things in this sin-cursed world that can cause a heart to quake, a resolve to crumble, a spirit to tremble.
You may have received a medical diagnosis that is menacing for you or a loved one. You may be enduring intimidation or coercion from unbelieving family or friends. You may find yourself a minority as a Christian in a culture that is overtly humanistic. But do not be afraid. Be strong.
Your God will come with vengeance. This, of course, reminds us that it is not our business to retaliate, or seek revenge against those who wrong or harm or malign us. God is the great avenger (Romans 12:19) who will right every wrong, and he does not need our help to do it.
He will come and save you. God is everywhere at once and so he does not need to "come" or "go" anywhere. He is always present with you. Yet, we do not always see his delivering hand immediately at work in our circumstances. But fear not, God says, my salvation is sure and it will not fail to come in my perfect timing. http://www.baptistbiblehour.org/resources/devotional/strength-and-encouragement-10/

Our Wills Must Surrender
The Christian doctrine of obedience to God and to His will is now largely neglected in modern religious circles, and many in our own congregations seem to feel that our obligation to obey has been discharged by the act of believing on Jesus Christ at the beginning of our Christian lives. We need to remember “the will is the seat of true religion in the soul.” Nothing genuine has been done in a man or woman’s life until his or her will has been surrendered in active obedience. It was disobedience that brought about the ruin of the race. It is the obedience of faith that brings us back again into the divine favor! It needs to be said that a world of confusion results from trying to believe without obeying! A mere passive surrender may be no surrender at all. Any real submission to the will of God must include willingness to take orders from Him from that time on. I keep wondering whether the Lord’s ministers will again give to obedience the place of prominence it occupies in the Scriptures.
Verse
His servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness. Romans 6:16
Thought
It was disobedience that brought about the ruin of the race. It is the obedience of faith that brings us back again into the divine favor!
Prayer
Lord, I surrender my will to You. I know that nothing I could will or do would please me so much as for You to control my life. My life was bought by You; it is yours. Hallelujah.
