Good evening, brethren.

1. Our evening prayer focuses on "Remembering Christ's sacrifice."

2. Do you face temptation, how did you handle it?

3. Do you know that wisdom votes from studying the Word of God?

4. Do you know that God understands us?

To know more, read the message below:

1. Evening Prayer

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. ⏤ 1 Peter 2:24

The cross is the only ladder high enough to touch Heaven’s threshold. ⏤ George Dana Boardman

O Lamb of God, have mercy upon us. You who sit at the right hand of God and will come in glory to judge the world—have mercy upon us and forgive our sins. We praise You, O Jesus, for Your wonderful condescension, for the priceless sacrifice made by You in accomplishing our redemption, and for the blessed salvation which You have obtained for us. May all that is within us be aroused to praise You.

We bow before Your cross, and we remember again what our redemption cost You. We remember Your years of patient humiliation, when You walked this earth, homeless and a wayfarer, with nowhere to lay Your head—that we might have a home in Heaven. We remember Your sufferings at the hands of enemies—that we might have the friendship of God. We remember Your agony in Gethsemane, Your bloody sweat—that we might have quiet peace when we come to die. We remember Your cross, with the unutterable sufferings endured there—that our sins might be forgiven and that we might have eternal redemption through Your blood. We remember Your burial and Your resting in the dark grave—that the grave might no longer have its terrors for us because You have lain in it.

We remember, too, Your glorious resurrection—that we might have a living Savior, and that we too might have the hope of resurrection and eternal life. We remember Your ascension to the right hand of God, that we might have a Friend in Heaven to intercede for us and plan for our lives. May these blessed truths be very real to us, and we will praise You forever. Amen.

2. Facing Temptation

...how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
- Genesis 39:9

Joseph is here speaking to his boss's wife, who is trying to seduce him to commit adultery with her. It would have been easy for him to give in. His family is far away; his life has been hard; no one need ever know of this opportunity to steal a little pleasure for himself. Yet, Joseph doesn't see this as "a little fun" but as a "great wickedness." Why?

Because Joseph realized that, ultimately, he would not be sinning against his family, or against his conscience, or even against his boss Potiphar. If he gave in to this temptation, he knew that he would be sinning against God. Every sin is a sin against God, and God knows of every sin that we commit.

Joseph recognized that -- although his brothers, and the Midianites who had sold him into slavery, and Potiphar who had bought him as a slave had all in some way wronged him -- God had never wronged him. God had always been faithful, true, merciful, and sufficient for Joseph's every need. How could he then turn and sin against his loving God?

Next time you are tempted to sin -- whether cheating on a test or cheating on your wife -- remember what kept Joseph out of trouble and how God blessed Joseph's life as a result. There is no such thing as a "little sin." Every sin is a great wickedness, because it is a sin against our perfect and loving God. http://www.baptistbiblehour.org/resources/devotional/facing-temptation-10/

Daily Proverbs

Get wisdom get understanding do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you.
Daily Bible Study
Solomon was considered the wisest man who ever lived. His wisdom was given to him as a gift from God as a result of his prayer to the Lord. When Solomon became the king of Israel, he prayed for wisdom to lead God's people. And because Solomon did not ask for wealth or power, God granted his petition. And it was from that wisdom Solomon wrote many of the proverbs listed within the Book of Proverbs. We should never forget God has placed His wisdom and guidance throughout the Bible as writers who were inspired by the Holy Spirit wrote God's words as a message to us and as a revelation of God's plan of redemption for all mankind. God is the creator of all things. He created the heavens, the earth and the universe in which they belong.

There is no wisdom higher than God's wisdom. There is no wisdom or advice of mankind that can surpass God's wisdom as given to us in His word. Moreover, God has recorded wisdom along with His revelation about Himself and about His plan of redemption throughout His word, the Bible. And through the study of the Bible, we can gain wisdom and understanding in order to live a more productive life, and a life pleasing to God. And not only wisdom for our day to day lives; but a wisdom and understanding which leads to salvation and therefore leads to life. Because all of the Bible testifies of Christ Jesus our Lord. The Bible from Old Testament to New Testament shows us God's plan of redemption for mankind, which is only through faith in Jesus Christ and His blood shed for the remission of sins.

God Understands Us
We should revel in the joy of believing that God is the sum of all patience and the true essence of kindly good will! Because He is what He is, we please Him most, not by frantically trying to make ourselves good but by throwing ourselves into His arms with all our imperfections and believing that He understands everything and loves us still. The God who desires our fellowship and communion is not hard to please, although He may be hard to satisfy. He expects from us only what He has Himself supplied. When He must chasten us, He even does this with a smile—the proud, tender smile of a Father who is bursting with pleasure over an imperfect son who is coming every day to look more and more like the One whose child he is! This is the best of good news: God loves us for ourselves. He values our love more than He values galaxies of newly created worlds. He remembers our frame and knows that we are dust!

Verse
God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16

Thought
This is the best of good news: God loves us for ourselves.

Prayer
Thank You, Lord, for remembering that we are but dust and loving us anyway. Teach us to love others as You have loved us.
