Good evening, brethren.

1. Our evening prayer focuses on "Christ centered home and family."

2. Do you know God's indescribable gift?

3. Do you k ow about the big story?

4. Do you know that wisdom comes from living God’s word?

To know more, read the message below.

1. Evening Prayer

A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh [but] in vain. ⏤ Psalm 127:1

A home is never a perfect home until Jesus has been welcomed into it. ⏤ Billy Graham

Father, let Your face shine upon our home tonight. We thank You for it. May it be . . .
A shelter to us from the world's storms,
A nest of love,
A school where we may learn love's lessons, and
Where we may grow into the beauty of Christlikeness.

We pray continually that our home may become more and more like Heaven. Teach all of us how to live, so as to add to its sweetness.

Come and be a guest in our home. Then its love will become sweeter and more and more holy. For Your presence gives light, blessing, and joy. Make our home, Your home. Dwell with us. Then we shall be happy. Then we shall live beautifully.

Bless the children. We thank You for childhood, with its simplicity, and its glad joyousness. Let Your grace be upon all our children, and give them Your sweet love, to keep their hearts unspoiled. Bless all mothers into whose hands little children come first to be taught and trained. May their own lives be pure with the purity of Jesus. Let no mother's heart be impure, or her hands defiled—while she is training her children for You. Bless all teachers of little children, giving them skill to do their work faithfully, so that they shall not be ashamed when they meet them at the judgment bar.

Let a blessing rest upon schools where children are trained for life. Make the teachers wise and faithful. Bless all academies, colleges, and schools of every grade. Give to teachers power to teach well. Bless all books, papers, and literature prepared for the children and young people. So may the children of the world be saved. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, the children's Friend. Amen.

2. God’s Indescribable Gift.
If while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. (Romans 5:10–11)

How do we practically receive reconciliation and exult in God? We do it through Jesus Christ. Which means, at least, that we make the portrait of Jesus in the Bible — that is, the work and the words of Jesus portrayed in the New Testament — we make that portrait the essential content of our exultation over God. Exulting in God without the content of Christ does not honor Christ. And where Christ is not honored, God is not honored.

In 2 Corinthians 4:4–6, Paul describes conversion in two ways. In verse 4, he says it is seeing “the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” And in verse 6, he says it is seeing “the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” In either case you see the point. We have Christ, the image of God, and we have God in the face of Christ.

To exult in God, we exult in what we see and know of God in the portrait of Jesus Christ. And this comes to its fullest experience when the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, as Romans 5:5 says. And that sweet, Spirit-given experience of the love of God is mediated to us as we ponder the historical reality of verse 6, “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.”

So here’s the Christmas point. Not only did God purchase our reconciliation through the death of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:10), and not only did God enable us to receive that reconciliation through the Lord Jesus Christ, but even now we exult in God himself, by the Spirit, through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:11).

Jesus purchased our reconciliation. Jesus enabled us to receive reconciliation and open the gift. And Jesus himself shines forth as himself the indescribable gift — God in the flesh — and stirs up all our exultation in God.

Look to Jesus this Christmas. Receive the reconciliation that he purchased. Don’t put the gift on the shelf unopened. And when you open it, remember God himself is the gift of reconciliation with God.

Exult in him. Experience him as your pleasure. Know him as your treasure.

Daily Proverbs

Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, and the years of your life will be many. I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; keep her, for she is your life.
Daily Bible Study
God's word provides us wisdom and guidance for our day to day lives. In addition God through our faith in Christ gives us His Holy Spirit who increases our understanding. Therefore, when we follow His word and His guidance our lives will be better, we will experience more joy and happiness. In addition, through God's guidance we live a life more productive for the kingdom of God. This doesn't mean we won't have trials and tribulations, we know these will come because of the fallen world we live in, and because Jesus Himself told us so. However, it does mean we can limit the trials and tribulations brought on by our own sin and our own foolish actions.

And because we live in a fallen world ruled by the one the Apostle Paul calls, "the prince of the power of the air" who is Satan, God has given us His Holy Spirit who indwells and guides us. He gives us strength for the trials we know will come. And when we follow God's word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, these are the times we can celebrate in the Lord because we are following God's wisdom for our lives. We praise the Lord through our trials, because we as children of God have the understanding that the Lord is sovereign and in control. And in His sovereignty, God can allow trials to touch our lives to show ourselves and others the genuineness of our faith, while showing the world around us the perseverance of the saints.
