1. Morning Prayer
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly. ⏤ John 10:10
The Lord will revive the weary heart that seeks Him. ⏤ Charles Spurgeon
O Jesus, the source and fountain of all life, we come to You this morning seeking new life and renewed strength to face the day ahead. Our spirits feel drained, and we need You to fill us again with Your life and love so that we can shine Your light in this world. Our hearts are weary, and we need Your love to refresh and sustain us. Our strength is depleted by the challenges we face, and we need Your power to carry us through.
We come to You, Jesus, because You are the Life. You have promised to fill us with Your grace upon grace, and we trust in Your promise. You gave Your life on the cross so that we could have life in abundance. Jesus, our Savior, fill us with Your life today so that we can truly live for You.
We ask for all the strength we need to be faithful followers of You today. We have no power on our own, but with You living in us, we can show the world who You are. May Your joy, peace, and life flow through us, so that others may see You in us and give glory to Your name. Fill us with Your life so that we can give to others from the abundance You provide. We ask all this in Your precious name, O Lamb of God. Amen.

A tenth of the produce of the land . . . is the Lord’s.
—Leviticus 27:30 (TLB)
We are to be stewards of our money. When it is invested and shared for the glory of God, it can be a boon and a blessing. I know a businessman in Detroit, Michigan, who made a promise to God that he would tithe his entire income to the work of the Lord. He said his business had tripled, and that God had more than fulfilled His end of the bargain.
Some time ago I heard from a laborer in the San Joaquin Valley of California who said that he and his wife agreed to give one tenth of their income to the Lord. At the time they made their decision, he was able to get work only about seven months of the year. Now he says he has steady work, and is earning nearly twice what he was before. You cannot get around it; the Scripture promises material and spiritual benefits to the man who gives to God.
You cannot out-give God. I challenge you to try it and see.
Prayer for the day
Forgive me, Lord, for the times I have wanted to keep that which is rightfully Yours.

Why Pray When You Can Worry? – Today’s Youth Devotion
Why Pray When You Can Worry?
Bible Reading: Matthew 6:34
Don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Matthew 6:34
AS YOU THINK about the upcoming New Year, are you worried about what might happen? Are you afraid of a worldwide economic collapse, sending humankind back to bartering chickens? Are you tense that you might be asphyxiated by pollution or vaporized by another terrorist attack?
You can worry all you want about those things, but it won’t do you any good. Just look at what a few wise people say about the futility of worry:
Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy. Leo Buscaglia
Worrying is wasting today’s time cluttering up tomorrow’s opportunities with yesterday’s troubles. Anonymous
Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It’s already tomorrow in Australia. Charles Schultz
The most significant word about worry, of course, comes from Jesus. His instruction? Don’t. Paul echoed that thought in Philippians 4:6: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” The apostle Peter adds, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you” (1 Peter 5:7).
Sure, there will be plenty of things about next year you won’t like-natural disasters, world tension, community strife, and conflicts with parents or friends. God never promised you a life without problems. And when scary things loom, you feel a sudden knot of worry in the pit of your stomach that paralyzes you.
That knot is your internal reminder that it’s time to pray. When you feel yourself wound tight with anxiety, don’t let it paralyze you. Instead, let it prayer-alyze you. Tell God straight up how you feel. Fill him in on all the issues or people or circumstances that worry you. Invite him to take control of them and you. Keep praying until the anxiety settles down. And when your nervousness comes back, pray again … and again … and again.
When you interpret worry as a natural nudge to pray instead of an impossible burden to carry, troubling circumstances won’t be so scary. You won’t see them as incidents that terrify. You will take them as opportunities for God to work as you hand them over to him in prayer.
REFLECT: What worries you most about the next few days? The next month? The next year?
PRAY: Cast all your concerns on God, because he cares for you.
