*🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 360*
* DATE:26TH DECEMBER, 2025*
*TOPIC: THE GIFT OF FORGIVENESS AT CHRISTMAS*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 6:14–15 (NKJV)*
*“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”*
*Devotional Message*
Yesterday, we looked at the true meaning of the celebration of Christmas and discovered that beyond the festivities, there must be something new born in us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is the greatest gift ever given to humanity. God sent His Son into the world, and through His coming, He gave His life and died for our sins. Through Jesus, our sins were forgiven and our broken relationship with God was restored—a relationship that was severed when our foreparents, Adam and Eve, sinned in the Garden of Eden and were driven out of His presence.
Because of His great love for mankind, God sought a way to restore fellowship with us. Yet no man was found worthy due to the sinful nature in humanity. Therefore, God Himself came in human form through Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice, forgiveness was made available to us freely. One of the greatest gifts we received through Christ is the gift of forgiveness.
As we celebrate this festive season, we are reminded that just as Jesus forgave us freely, we are also called to forgive those who have offended or wronged us throughout the year. This may include family members, friends, employers, colleagues at work, church leaders, or anyone with whom relationships were broken. It is time and season to mend relationships that were broken through forgiveness.
This is not a season to carry heavy weights of bitterness, resentment, and offense in our hearts. Forgiveness must be given freely and without conditions, just as we were forgiven freely by Jesus Christ. Though forgiving may seem difficult, it is possible through Christ who gives us strength, and through the help of the Holy Spirit who empowers us to walk in love.
Jesus teaches us in the Lord’s Prayer that forgiveness is not optional—it is a kingdom principle. When we forgive, our Father forgives us. Forgiveness releases us to walk in freedom, progress, and spiritual advancement. Holding offense only gives the devil a foothold in our lives, but forgiveness shuts that door and brings light, peace, and liberty.
*Prayer*
Father, thank You for the gift of forgiveness through Jesus Christ. As I celebrate the birth of Your Son, give me the grace to forgive those who have wronged me. Heal every broken relationship, remove bitterness from my heart, and help me walk in love and freedom. Holy Spirit, strengthen me to forgive as I have been forgiven. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
