A LIFE OF SERVICE

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded." John 13:2-5 NKJV.

In the Jewish custom, it was the duty/responsibility of the bond servant to wash the feet of visitors in the well-to-do family to make them acceptable, but here, we see the LORD Jesus willingly assuming that role. You may now understand the reason for Peter's initial objection to the LORD Jesus washing his feet. For the bond servant, it was not a choice, but a life being lived.

The LORD Jesus demonstrated the ultimate humility to fit into that position. He was aware of who He is, but needed to do that for our teaching and benefit (Acts 1:1b).
How many people would attain the height of position in life's endeavour and yet remain humble, to the glory of God?

Will you dare avail your life for service to God and humanity?

PRAYER BULLETS:

LORD Jesus, thank You for showing me the values of the life of service. Engrace me to further live it to the fullest, to Your glory.

FURTHER READING:

Mark 10:43-45; 1 Peter 5:5-6; Luke 22:24-27; Philippians 2:5-8.
