As we stand at the last Sunday of year 2025, we are not just ending a calendar year—we are closing spiritual chapters and aligning ourselves for divine transitions. What you close properly determines how you enter successfully. God does not waste seasons. Even what seemed delayed, difficult, or painful in year 2025 has a purpose in preparing us for year 2026. KEY TEXTS FOR THE SEASON Deuteronomy 11:12 – “A land which the Lord your God cares for…” Psalm 65:11 – “You crown the year with Your goodness.” Philippians 3:13–14 – “Forgetting those things which are behind…” Isaiah 60:1 – “Arise, shine; for your light has come!” Revelation 3:8 – “I have set before you an open door…” METAPHOR: THE BATON OF DESTINY In a relay race, success is not just about speed—it is about how the baton is handed over. Year 2025 is the runner finishing the lap 2026 is the runner waiting to receive the baton If the baton is dropped, progress is delayed If it is transferred properly, victory continues This final Sunday is the baton-exchange moment—a sacred point of reflection, alignment, and preparation. PART ONE: CLOSING YEAR 2025 WELL 1. Close with Gratitude, Not Grief > “In everything give thanks…” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Gratitude heals what pain tried to poison. Thanksgiving seals victories and neutralizes regrets. 2. Close with Lessons, Not Lamentations > “All things work together for good…” — Romans 8:28 What did not work was not wasted—it was training. 3. Close with Forgiveness, Not Offences > “Let all bitterness… be put away from you.” — Ephesians 4:31 You cannot carry yesterday’s wounds into tomorrow’s breakthroughs. PART TWO: PREPARING TO ENTER YEAR 2026 1. Spiritual Alignment > “Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts shall be established.” — Proverbs 16:3 Year 2026 will not respond to wishes—it will respond to alignment. 2. Mental Renewal > “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2 New seasons demand new thinking. 3. Prophetic Expectation > “According to your faith be it unto you.” — Matthew 9:29 Expectation is the womb of manifestation. REFLECTION QUESTIONS What must I leave behind in year 2025 to move freely into year 2026? What lessons did God teach me through delays and battles? Am I spiritually, mentally, and emotionally ready for increase? What altar of prayer and consecration must I rebuild? (Allow the congregation a moment of silent reflection.) PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS Declare boldly: I close year 2025 with thanksgiving and victory I enter year 2026 with clarity, power, and divine direction Every unfinished battle of year 2025 will not follow me into year 2026 I receive grace for speed, favor, and accuracy My year 2026 shall be greater, brighter, and more impactful I will not repeat mistakes; I will multiply testimonies In Jesus’ Name.
