Morning Prayer Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. ⏤ Philippians 4:6 Prayer is the voice of faith to the ear of our loving Father. ⏤ A.W. Tozer Lord, teach us how to pray. We’re grateful for the privilege of coming to You with our needs and desires, knowing that You will listen with patience and love. You never turn away any of Your children. Even the smallest request from the weakest among us is heard by You. We are so thankful to have such a loving Father in Heaven. Help us learn to pray with the confidence of children, coming boldly to Your throne of grace to find mercy and help in our times of need. We trust that You will always do what’s best for us, so we bring our requests to You, saying, "Your will be done." Give us the faith to trust You with our desires, leaving the outcome in Your hands. If what we ask isn’t given, help us believe that Your refusal is a greater kindness than granting our request would have been. We come to You with our needs for daily provision, for health, and for success in our work. If it’s Your will, grant us these mercies. But if You withhold them, we trust that it is out of love, and we will say, "Your will, not ours, be done." We also ask for spiritual blessings—more grace, more love, and more of Your Spirit in our lives. Hear our prayers and grant us peace. May we stay close to You, and may Your love fill our hearts. "ACCEPTING OTHERS " ‘Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you.’ Romans 15:7 NIV SOMETIMES, PEOPLE don’t make it easy to accept them. They can be bad tempered, selfish, critical, irritating, dismissive, aggressive and pompous. Sometimes you want to give them a piece of your mind; give them what they deserve—anything but acceptance. The command, ‘accept one another’, is inconvenient. And if Paul had stopped there we might dodge the directive by saying he obviously meant good, reasonable, acceptable people. Alas, he goes on, ‘just as Christ accepted you’. Were you good, reasonable and acceptable? No, but He accepted you—flaws and all—and He still does! You say, ‘Somebody has to straighten these people out and require them to act right!’ You mean like Jesus required before He accepted you? Roman Christians had difficulty accepting their less experienced brothers, and Paul corrected them: ‘Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment…for God has accepted him’ (Roman 14:1-3 NIV). Straightening people out isn’t our department; accepting them is. God calls us to accept messed-up, unspiritual, carnal, obnoxious, doctrinally misled, ‘just plain wrong’ people. You don’t have to approve of, like, or agree with them, but accepting them isn’t optional. There’s no elite, privileged, insider class. We occupy level ground because of two realities: our sin and the cross! Jews and Gentiles despised each other, even after salvation. Each wanted the other to change and become like them. But Paul took the axe to the root of that tree: ‘For Christ Himself…reconciled both groups…by means of His death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death’ (Ephesians 2:14-16 NLT). As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39. neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. *TOPIC:* EMMANUEL: OUR SECURITY. *THE MESSAGE:* Today's reading re-echoes the inseparable love of Christ and His ability to provide safety. Paul assures that tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger or even the sword cannot sever our relationship with Emmanuel. For the sake of Christ believers are being killed all day long and are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered (Ps. 44:22). Yet, in this life and the one to come, nothing will keep us away from Christ because He is a conqueror. Are you feeling insecure or overtaken by any threat? Stand firm in Christ, for nothing can separate you from His love. In Him is peace and security. *REFLECTION:* In Christ, you are more than conquerors. *PRAYER:* Lord, thank You for securing me. Some time ago a policeman asked me what the secret of victorious living was. I told him that there is no magic formula that can be pronounced. If any word could describe it, I would say surrender. The second word I would say would be devotion. Nothing can take the place of a daily devotional life with Christ. Your quiet time, your prayer time, the time you spend in the Word, is absolutely essential for a happy Christian life. You cannot possibly be a happy, dynamic, and powerful Christian apart from a daily walk with Christ. Christ is calling Christians today to cleansing, to dedication, to consecration, and to full surrender. It will make the difference between success and failure in your spiritual life. It will make the difference between being helped and helping others. It will make a difference in your habits, in your prayer life, in your Bible reading, in your giving, in your testimony, and in your church membership. This is the Christian hour of decision!
