Yesterday, I ministered to another panhandler. “Ruth” (not her real name) wasn’t hungry, but I still offered her a couple of snacks to eat later. Then I gave her a gospel tract and asked questions concerning her eternal destiny. Ruth already knew the Lord and attended a Baptist church. She had moved from Kentucky because it was her dream to live in Florida. However, Ruth revealed she hasn’t been able to find work and is living in her truck with her boyfriend. I felt led to ask if they had been fornicating. Ruth replied, “Of course” (like it was no big deal). I tried to warn her what Hebrews 13:4 says about God judging fornicators. Ruth interrupted me saying she didn’t want to talk anymore. Before leaving, I quoted Isaiah 1:19, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.” Hopefully, Ruth will get the message that willful sin has consequences. Verse 20 goes on to say, “‘But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword’; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
