*🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 9*
* DATE: 9TH JANUARY, 2026*
*TOPIC: TAKING RESPONSIBILITY: THE GATEWAY TO PROGRESS AND CHANGE*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: LUKE 15:18 (NKJV)*
*“I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.’”*
*Devotional Message*

Progress, advancement, and lasting change in life can only be experienced when we learn to take responsibility. This means owning our mistakes and being willing to change direction. Without responsibility, growth remains impossible.

A clear example is the prodigal son. After wasting all his inheritance, the Bible records that he came to his senses, arose, and returned to his father. He acknowledged that he had sinned against heaven and before his father and pleaded for mercy. The powerful truth is that his father had been waiting for him and accepted him back. This is exactly how our Heavenly Father responds when we take responsibility for our mistakes and boldly approach His throne—He extends mercy and grace.

This contrasts with Adam and Eve, who failed to own their mistakes and instead shifted blame to each other. That attitude left no room for true repentance or mercy. King David, however, demonstrated a different spirit. Whenever he realized he had sinned against God, he owned it, humbled himself, and repented with a broken heart—sometimes even fasting. Responsibility opened the door for restoration.

The same principle applies to nations. Unless we humble ourselves before God and turn from wicked ways—an act of owning our failures—our land cannot be healed. Likewise, unless leaders accept responsibility and change their ways, a nation cannot grow.

On a personal level, unless we take responsibility for our own lives by owning past mistakes, changing direction, and stopping the habit of blaming parents, siblings, church, friends, or circumstances, progress will remain limited. Blame leads to stagnation, but responsibility opens the door to growth, transformation, and lasting change.

*Prayer*

Father, give me the grace to take responsibility for my life. Help me to own my mistakes, repent sincerely, and boldly approach Your throne for mercy. Deliver me from blame and stagnation, and lead me into growth, restoration, and transformation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
