Debt Cancelled
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Colossians 2:13-14
Blotting out - (to smear out, that is, obliterate (erase tears, figuratively pardon sin)
the handwriting - (something hand written (“chirograph”), that is, a manuscript (specifically a legal document or bond (figuratively))
ordinances - (a law (civil, ceremonial or ecclesiastical))
From the moment humanity fell into sin, we began accumulating a debt (Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12) —a debt we could never hope to repay on our own. Our disobedience separated us from Yahwah, leaving us spiritually bankrupt and unable to bridge the gap between ourselves and our Creator. (Ex. The parable of the rich man and Lazarus the beggar) But thanks be to Yahwah, who in His infinite mercy and grace, provided a way for our debts to be canceled.
Through the sacrifice of Messiah on the cross, Yahwah made provision for the forgiveness of our sins. The debt of our transgressions, which stood against us and condemned us, has been canceled once and for all.
The weight of sin, like a heavy burden, can weigh us down and rob us of joy, peace, and freedom. But when we receive the forgiveness that Yahwah offers through Messiah, we experience a spiritual transformation—a new lease on life.
Imagine waking up one day to find that the balance of your sins has been wiped away—no longer held against you, no longer condemning you. That is the reality of the forgiveness we have in Messiah. It relieves our anxieties, calms our fears, and fills us with a joy that surpasses understanding.
As we reflect on the magnitude of Yahwah's forgiveness, I want you to respond with gratitude and praise. Live each day in the freedom and assurance that comes from knowing our debts have been canceled and then let us share this message of forgiveness with others, so they too may experience the life-transforming power of Yahwah 's grace!
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Romans 5:19
For the law of the Spirit of life in Yahwah Messiah hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:2
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
