MORNING TEA. THE WORD FOR TODAY

"IN PLACE, BUT NOT CONNECTED"
âYou cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.â John 15:4 NLT
ONE BIBLE teacher writes: âMobile phones can be life-saversâŠbut the batteries have a limited lifespan and need to be recharged. One weary weekend I was as drained as my âphone battery. I went through my evening routine, dutifully placing my mobile âphone on its charger. Unfortunately, I neglected to plug the charger into the socket. Next morning I woke refreshedâbut my âphone was no better than the night before. It was in the right placeâŠbut it wasnât connected to the power source! Sometimes the consequences of not âplugging inâ can be more severeâŠmany people dutifully march to church every week, but leave as drained as when they came. Theyâre in the right place, but theyâre not plugged in to the power of GodâŠand without that it doesnât matter if you sit in a pew or on a barstoolâŠYou can study the Scriptures for hours on end, âalways learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truthâ
(2 Timothy 3:7 NAS); you can even do great things for God but lack power in your life. If Iâd left my mobile âphone on the charger for days or weeks instead of overnight, it wouldnât have helped. Multiplication of effort isnât a substitute for true powerâŠGuard against things that disconnect you from the power sourceâŠobviously sin will do that, but so will weariness. We canât remain connected if weâre weighed down by busyness. We can spend so much time doing things for God that we neglect our relationship with Him.â Jesus said, âYou cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.â That means reading the Bible, praying and resting in His presence

Morning Prayer
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all MEMBE EDRINE NSUBUGA liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. †James 1:5
Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work. †Oswald Chambers
Our Father in Heaven, we, Your children, gather at Your feet this morning to start the day with You. We seek Your blessing before we go out. We arenât strong enough on our own for the tasks ahead today, so we ask for Your strength. We canât resist the temptations weâll face without Your help, so we ask for the grace to overcome them. We donât always know the best choices to make, so we pray for the wisdom to walk in holiness.
Graciously remember us, Your children, O God, and donât hold our sins against us. Instead, in Your mercy, bless and save us. Teach us to do Your will. Help us to live today in a way that pleases You. Let us not grieve You or hurt Your heart of love through carelessness, unbelief, or disobedience.
We ask You to bless us in our work and all our daily duties. Help us to be faithful in everything we do and skilled in our work. Help us to see our everyday tasks as part of our Fatherâs business. In this way, may we glorify You through the work of our hands.
We donât just pray for ourselves and our own home. We pray for our neighbors. May Your blessing rest on their homes. Some of them donât know You. No prayers rise to You from their homes. Have mercy on them. Bless the children who have no one to pray for them. Let Your peace rest on the homes of those who love You.
Receive us now into Your care as we go out into the unknown experiences of this day. Keep us safe and bring us back together in peace at the end of the day. We ask all this in Jesusâ precious name. Amen.
