*🕊 DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 15*
* DATE: 15TH JANUARY, 2026*
*TOPIC: HONOURING GOD_2*
*ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: PSALM 24:1 NKJV*
*“The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.”*
*Devotional Message*
Yesterday, we began exploring the subject of honour, and we established that one of the primary ways we honour God is by keeping His Word—being doers of what He has instructed us to do. Today, we examine another vital way to honour God: through sacrifice. Sacrifice is an act of worship that acknowledges God as the owner of all things and us as mere trustees of the resources He has entrusted to us.
The Psalmist makes it clear that the earth and everything in it belongs to the Lord. Therefore, whatever we offer back to Him—our substance, time, service, praise, worship, and resources—is not a favour to God, but a privilege. True sacrifice flows from a heart that recognises God’s lordship and desires to glorify Him.
One clear biblical example is Abel. The Bible records that Abel offered the best of his flock, and his sacrifice was accepted by God, while Cain’s was rejected. The difference was not merely in the offering, but in the heart and the quality of what was given. God desires the best, and any sacrifice offered to Him must be pleasing and honouring to Him.
We also see Noah after the flood. After God destroyed the earth because of sin, Noah built an altar and offered sacrifices to the Lord. The Bible records that the offering rose as a sweet aroma before God, and the Lord vowed never again to destroy the earth in that manner. Sacrifice moved God’s heart and released a covenant blessing over humanity.
The offerings, tithes, service, praise, and worship we present to God should bring Him honour and glory. God does not desire leftovers or offerings given grudgingly, but sacrifices that reflect reverence, gratitude, and honour. Such sacrifices demonstrate that God holds the highest position in our lives and that nothing has taken His place.
It is important to remember that the acceptability of our sacrifice is determined by the state of our hearts. God accepts the person first before He accepts the offering. While men may be deceived by outward appearances, God sees the heart and cannot be deceived. Let us therefore be counted among the faithful—those who honour God with sincere and acceptable sacrifices.
*Prayer*
Father, I acknowledge that everything I have belongs to You. Help me to honour You with my substance, my service, and my worship. Purify my heart so that my sacrifices may be pleasing unto You. May my life continually reflect that You hold the highest place in my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
