As I scroll through social media, I see it everywhere - parents, grandparents, families, even the news - celebrating children passing school, graduating, achieving academic milestones. And yes, that is good. Education matters.
But as I was watching, God pulled my attention to His heart.
“What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and lose his soul?” (Mark 8:36)
I’m not saying education is unimportant. I’m asking a deeper question:
What about the soul?
How many of us rejoice just as loudly over our children belonging to God?
How often do we celebrate spiritual growth, repentance, obedience, a heart surrendered to Christ?
Why can’t we desire both - a child who does well in education and whose soul belongs to God?
Why do we push our children all year academically, but rarely push them with the same urgency toward Christ?
Because what is the point of good grades, good careers, and worldly success -
if a soul is lost in the end?
The truth is sobering, but it’s also hopeful:
There is still hope in Jesus Christ.
It’s never too late to care for the soul.
Let’s raise children who are prepared for this world - but more importantly, for eternity.
